My One Special One – Chapter 12

“Mom, look, I never told you why I broke it off.  It’s really very simple.  He’s a liar and a cheat.  I don’t want him in my life.  Since I didn’t tell you the reason, I guess I can’t be angry with you.  I will just use caller id or screen the calls.  Now, I want to tell you something, some good news.”

    “What’s that, sweetie?”

    “I’ve met someone wonderful.”

“Oh, Tina, I’m so happy.”  Tina could hear the smile her mother had on her face.   “So who is he?  How long has this been going on?”

    Oh, Christ, here we go.

    “Mom, it’s not a ‘he.’”

    “What?”

    “It’s a woman.”

“You mean you meant a new friend and she’s wonderful?” Ann asked with a slight bit of trepidation in her voice.

“She’s wonderful and she’s much more than a friend.”  Said it.  Here we go.

“What?  What are you saying? How can that be, Tina?  You’re not one of those kind of peopleI can’tit’s not righthow” Ann Kennard started to cry.

    “What kind of people, Mom?”

“Don’t make me say it, Tina.  Was John that bad a man to you?”

“John has nothing to do with this.  She – Bette is a person, a kind and loving person.  She’s one of ‘those kind of people’, Mom.  The kind there should be more of in this world.”

“What has she done to youI can’t believe this.  She must have done something to change my girl.”

“All she did was open my eyes, my mind and my heart to be true to myself and my feelings.”

“No, NoThis cannot be.  I can’t talk about this anymore.  I am very upset.”

“What color are my eyes, Mom?”

    “What?  They’re hazel.”

    “How tall am I?”

    “You’re 5-6.  What’s with these questions, Tina?”

“And the color of my hair?”

    “Please, Tina.  Blond, dark blonde.”

“And what’s my favorite ice cream?  You know, the one that would always stop me from crying when I hurt myself?”

    “Tina, this is silly.”

    “Please, just tell me.”

    “Chocolate Chip Mint.”

“Great, Mom.  Obviously, nothing about me has changed.  I am still all those things you just stated.  I am the same person you reared.  You always told me to follow my heart and my dreams, but most importantly to be true to myself.   That’s exactly what I’m doing.”

    1. that really sweet> 1. tina’s mom shouldn’t be picturing her with anybody man or woman. that’s just wrong! LOL!!!2. i totally agree that people come into our lives for a reason, they all inevitably leave some kind of mark in our lives. thanx again sweetie for the chap and happy valentine’s day. please post soon. 2. mnj33pp here.Tina don’t let true love slip through your fingers because of family. Another bette will not exist for you.Thank you for your writing, you always leave me breathless

    3. You Are My Gift On This Valentine’s Day And For All The Ones To Come. Wonderful Chapter Baby. Happy Valentine’s Day. From The Woman In Your Life.

    4. good chapter. poor tina, but coming out is never easy, even your parents take it easy. and well, it could’ve been worse, too, at least her mom actually talked to her after tina’d told her, she could’ve just hung up and never answer tina’s calls again… anyway, hopefully bette will be able to console the love of her life

    5. RC…great chapter. Both B & T feel the words in their hearts and their very souls are aching to share it with the other. Poor Tina, Bette warned her, but like everyone else you just think it won’t happen to you. Your family will accept you and anything you have to say to them without any question. Maybe time will help…let’s hope that is the scenario for Tina and her mother. Now I think I know who may be following Tina…it’s someone involved in the drug case she’s fighting in court. RC…always a pleasure to read your updates…please continue.

    6. Arceextl,A magical and majestic moment in both Tina and Bette’s lives as they move towards admitting to both each other and themselves the depth of emotions that they are feeling. Love doesn’t always explode in your heart somtimes it just creeps in and takes root, forever changing you. And to have Tina so freely tell her mother about Bette was magnificent. Sad to see the parental response being one of denial and disgust. Hopefully time will ease these and allow Tina and her family to support and nurture one another again in the future. Bette’s actions speak volumes here as she rushes to console her lover. All of this is beautifully and tenderly drawn out. Thank you so much, Your Loyal Fan.

    7. Great chapter rc. Get Bette to her fast so that she can feel the love they have for each other and ignore her mother. She has to know that true love exists in Bette for her and nothing and no one can change that. Fate and Destiny have intervened in their lives and made their hearts recognize their true mates. Thanks for the post.

    8. Why does it has to be this way for so many off us….how can family be so cruel, I still don’t get it!!! Poor Tina, but just remember it will get better with time – I hope :o))….and with the love and support from Bette, she will be strong enough, she just have too belive in them…..Please dont let us wait too long for the next post….I love this and your writing :o))

    9. Ouch. Luckily I didn’t have to deal with that with my parents, but I could very well be faced with that if/when the rest of my family finds out. Fate and Destiny won’t give up that easily on Tina, and neither will Bette. Bette gets lots of cool points for deciding to tell Tina how she feels even though she could end up hurt.
