They stepped outside and began walking in the direction of their apartments. Bette was holding Tina’s hand but looking straight ahead.
She was knocked out of her contemplative mode by Tina’s voice.
“Bette?”
“I’m sorry, T. I knew we would run into my past eventually. I just didn’t think it would be the day after our first time together. And I didn’t think of all people it would be that bitch.”
“We all have a past, Bette. There’s no getting around that for any of us.”
“But what she said is the truth – was the truth, Tina. At least the part about getting bored easy and fast. You saw the reaction of the girls. They were simply blown away by the fact that you were at brunch.”
“Look, why don’t we treat this as a ‘first’ for each of us. If what we’re feeling is real, then in many, if not all, aspects, this – you and I – is truly a first. I only ask that you be honest with me and speak up if you’re bored or scared or whatever. I promise I will do the same.”
“Okay, T.”
They resumed walking, holding hands and stealing glances at one another. Now, the quiet was due to the both of them knowing their “first time” date and weekend was coming to a close. Neither wanted it to end. They were even deliberately walking slowly.
“Long week ahead of you?” Bette asked.
“Yes, I’m in what’s called a Felony list room next week so it’s going to be a long stretch from Monday to Friday.”
“Oh.” Bette said a bit dejectedly, a feeling of missing already setting in. Five days may as well be five years, Bette thought.
“Hey you, look at me.” Tina stopped and turned Bette towards her. Tina looked into those dark eyes and saw a sadness that broke her heart. Funny thing was, it was a sadness she felt herself sharing.
“It’s going on 7. This weekend isn’t over yet. What say we pick up the pace and get back to my place or yours so we can spend a couple more hours together?” Tina said softly.

“Please…come in and do…” Bette then brushed her lips against Tina’s – “whatever you want…to me.” Tina’s knees buckled, her insides became a warm mass of quivering jello and she swallowed hard as she stared into Bette’s eyes. ………..I know how Tina felt, but I wasnt looking into Bette’s eyes. Arceextl,Another portion of perfection.The gentle teasing from the gang was a scene to behold and adore. Janice was an interruption but only proved how deep their love was. There is such a sense of sweetness and wonderment between Bette and Tina; these newly united lovers are still a little unsure and uncertain as to what the future will hold however they are both drive by desire and passion for each other.
