"Baby sis, tell me what happened," Kit urged after several minutes of Bette crying.
"Tina!" Bette growled in frustration.
"What about Tina baby girl?"
"She lied to me!" Bette bellowed as she stood up and walked in front of Kit, who was also getting to her feet.
Kit exhaled sharply, waiting patiently for Bette to continue.
"She slept with her sister! I wasn’t her first! She’s been lying to me for years!" Bette yelled as she picked up a loose rock from the ground and threw it into the open space as hard as she could.
"Bette Porter! You calm down this instant!" Kit scolded. "Now you listen to me! You love Tina! You’ve don’t some not so honorable things in your past too but that woman loved you enough to forgive you of your mistakes and look past your transgressions and she gave you another shot! Don’t you DARE think about walking away from her!"
Bette looked at her sister in shock. Recently, in the past 5 years, Bette was accustomed to Kit putting her in her place when she needed it, but she never saw Kit so headstrong before.
"Kit, I don’t know if I can look at her the same," Bette admitted.
"You can and you will. What bothers you the most Bette?"
"She lied to me! After all the fights we’ve had about honesty and communications, she lied to me and has been lying to me for the past 11 years!"
"Well, Bette you aren’t the easiest person to talk to! You are overly critical and no one ever knows the reaction you will have!" Kit rebutted. "Did you even let her explain? I mean there’s got to be more than ‘I slept with my sister, the end’."
"No, I didn’t let her explain. I couldn’t I got so mad I was afraid of what I would say so I figured It’d be best if I just left," Bette answered.
"Mmm hmmm baby girl. You’re going to go back to that hotel and you are going to let Tina, YOUR FIANCE, Partner of almost 11 years and mother of your daughter explain to you what happened and you are going to listen to her. Do you understand what I’m saying baby sis?" Kit ordered
"Yea…" Bette said rolling her eyes like she was a teenager again.
"Baby sis I know you did not just roll your eyes at me like you were 13 again. You’ve gotta get over yourself. You are not a saint."
"Sorry," Bette apologized.
"You don’t need to apologize to me, baby girl. I’m sure Tina’s hurting. It had to have taken a lot out of her to tell you something like that."
"She was drunk," Bette said without thinking.
‘Elizabeth Grace Porter!" Kit screamed. "How dare you degrade her like that!"
"Kit…" Bette began.
"No! Let me tell you something Bette. That woman has put up with more shit from you than any other people I know would even want to. You are going to get your black ass back to that fucking hotel and you are going to listen to her. I don’t want any "buts" about it. You are going to go because trust me baby sis you will regret it and I will not be there to pick up your black behind once you fuck up again. Do I make myself crystal clear to you baby girl?"
Before Bette could respond, Kit picked up Bette’s keys from the ground and tossed them to her. Bette barely caught them and then stated at her sister.
"You better go Bette. Right now."
Bette turned around and started running back towards her car

I’m glad Kit knocked some sense into Bette. Poor Tina, she must be hurting right now. PPS. That was a fantastic chapter.
OMG!! Just read the last two posted chapters. I know Tina was feelign guilt about her past, but that was not the way to tell Bette. I am just glad Shane saw he leave and called Kit. I had surgery to remove my uterus due to fibroids-that according to the doctor weighed 4lbs, I am coming along though.
Way to go Kit, so happy Shane saw Bette leave. Now Bette get your ass back to the woman you love and listen. Thank you Great Chapter!!! PPS

All thanks to Kit Porter, Bette needed that scolding. But I believe she needed the air to breathe as well. Its not easy news and its better she cleared her mind than to blurt something she’ll regret right then and there. Great chapter. They’ll make it through, right? Haha.

Ok i read a comment and I tried to write personally, but couldn’t figure out how to do it. However, I want to clear something up…and i may also do this with the next post – Dainty, if you feel like i have offended you, please personal message me. I do not like dirty laundry laid out for everyone to see. And i never meant to be offensive because in truth, my girlfriend is half african american and she tells me to get my “translucent (or sometimes she says albino or pale) black ass [here]”. Its not meant to be offensive, I just have been in an environment where this is what i have witnessed on more than one occasion with more than one party… Next time, please personal message me. Again, I do not like “dirty laundry” aired in public and i can apologize to you personally and explain my reasonings behind the terminology I use. It would be the same thing as saying “Get your white ass over here”… which for some reason is FINE to be said among Caucasians…and no one gets offended…

Brillantly written
A case of those that live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Bette shouldn’t be so hypocritical.Tina may have been abused by her sister. She may have found in difficult to deny her sister b/c of the age difference.
It’s good that Shane saw Bette speeding and called Kit so she could find Bette and talk to her and also that she went to check on Tina that needs comforting as well. Granted, Tina should have told her that her sister molested her rather than the way she told her the info. Now, one more thing I have to say about this chapter. I am completely offended by the phrase “black ass and black behind” used to describe Bette in this chapter, and offensive to JB herself. I thought it was a bit racial and completely unnecessary. Maybe not your intention but that is how it came across. Thanks for posting.
