    Mom and Alice Ch 10

    "Hey mommy." Jess said.

"Hey sweetie did you have a good time at the park?" Bette asked.

"Yeah." Jess said. Bette looked at her. "Yes ma’am." Jess said recanting her earlier answer.

"Why don’t you go play for a minute?" Bette said.

"Okay." Jess said and headed for her room. She stopped in the hallway out of Bette or Sue’s sight but where she could still hear what was going on.

Bette and Sue watched her until they could know see her.

    "So?" Sue asked.

"It’s done. I feel bad though." Bette said.

"Bette. Don’t you had to do it before everyone got more attached." Sue said trying to comfort her friend.

"I know but Jess is going to be devastated. While I was sitting here I counting up all the actual time they spent together. I didn’t realize how much it was. I don’t know how I am going to tell her that she isn’t going to be able to see Al anymore." Bette said. Jess had moved into Sue’s eye line.

"You may not have to worry about that anymore." Sue said pointing and looking at Jess. Bette turned to see a tear run down Jess’s face.

Bette couldn’t think of anything to say.

"I will see you later." Sue said knowing that she need to go so Bette could be alone with Jess and have a serious conversation.

"Okay thanks for everything." Bette said with out taking her eyes off of Jess. They never broke eye contact.

"Don’t mention it." Sue said and left.

Jess turned and ran into her room slamming and locking the door. Bette quickly followed her.

"Jess please open up. I want to talk to you and explain." Bette said through the door as she wiggled the door knob.

"NO. I liked Al. She wasn’t like the others." Jess yelled. Bette couldn’t believe that her daughter who was almost six years old understood everything that had been going on.

"Jess I am going to give you to the count of three to open this door and then there are going to be consequences." Bette said. Jess didn’t answer. " 1……2………." The door unlocked. Bette walked in and saw Jess lying on her stomach with her face buried in the pillow.

    1. Just like your name sake you charmed my britches off (damn sorry, I will put them back on). That was intriquing how you brought all the main characters together using the challenge as your guide. As a Tibette fan I always enjoy those two together, but we got to see the relationship that Bette and Alice had built. It was Alice who first calmed Bette down enough to help Bette realize that she could have a relationship with someone.

    2. Thanks for sharing this wonderful story with us. How clever to use your original story as a catalyst for a challenge, I truly loved that!! Both stories have been so awesomely written and thoroughly enjoyed. Here’s to your “charming” continually…pleasel, another challenge.
