Meet Me In Montauk; #13 – Fin
The cold wind whipped through me, finding every tiny gap in my clothes, seeping its way onto the surface of my skin.
Where was she? Amongst the crowds, I searched for her face; hers was the face I looked upon with such joy and deep-rooted happiness. But as I stood here, violently whipped by the unforgiving winds, it felt as if all the lights around me had dimmed; the intense feeling of melancholy had sunken in.
Although I still couldn’t see her anywhere, I could feel her exquisite agony.
I closed my eyes tightly, trying to take in the moments, the emotions and the ache that resonated from deep inside me.
I more than understood the finality of being here.

Bette
I closed my eyes for a brief moment as I walked towards the lighthouse, the cold salty sea breeze tousled my hair.
I took each step with careful hesitation, wondering if she would be waiting there at the end for me. I tucked my hands into the pocket of my jeans as I looked around, taking in the breathtaking scenes which surrounded me with a chilly foreboding.
The clouds had gathered in the late afternoon sky, tuning the ocean into an ashen shade. The waves crashed down onto the shoreline, the incessant chatter of the crowd along the beach faded to black.
I tilted my head slightly, looking around for her. The lighthouse stood, towering over me as I walked around it, wondering if she would be waiting for me on the other side.
I turned a corner and my heart stopped as I saw her sitting cross-legged near the edge.
Her eyes were closed, her body swaying ever so gently like a delicate leaf against the threatening winds. I smiled to myself, standing a slight distance away, admiring her soft features, her fair skin and her long dark hair.
I knew in that moment that I had made the right decision.
I wanted to seal this memory in my heart forever.

Helena
Sitting there, listening to the sounds of the ocean calmed my restless spirit. My thoughts had been swimming in circles through my mind from the moment I left Melbourne.

Euni, Euni, Euni good girl. See when a love last for a long time and you see each others faults and forge a a bond that bond can not be broken if the parties involved can show cause for the relationship to continue. Tina did not have to show cause, she had been showing it all along but then got busy with her own stuff and forgot Bette needed a little more. Bette could have asked and told Tina but she is not like that so Tina needed to remember, I think she will in the future. I think Tasha on the other hand needed to let Helena come to her own conclusion becasue either way it ended up Tasha would have wanted Helena to be happy. Excellent story, well though out and presented to us. Thank you for popping into our lives this year. Merry Christmas to you and Grumpy Bear. Thank you, Md
Eunichicky Wicky….I like responsible fanstasy. (Not that I actually practice this.) Good job…I like that they say each other but a phone call would have been cheaper huh! Now I think since they made the trip, Just let them fuck, just because. No ties. Just a goodbye fuck. (I can’t believe I just said that.)
That should read, I like that they SAW each other
I am still not convinced about tash..Why should Helena invest in their relationship if Tash is going to have an “easy come easy go, do what you want, I don’t matter, I only want YOU to be happy” type attitude? Is nothing worth fighting for? At some point, she shouls have stood up and said listen, instead of eternally lying low so that Helena is comfortable. This kind of submissive behavior can easily lead to passive agressive behavior, like forgetting to do things around the house, or pay the bills, or things like that.Hmmmm?
That would be Merry not Marry.
Who would want anyone else, who would love you for your faults and still hang around. In a diferent time and a different place yes, It was their time, in a different life yes. thanks MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS.
Maybe Bette and Helena were soulmates. You know how they say that soulmates doesn’t necessarily have to be lovers. I believe that it can happen. And I have to agree with Bette. You wouldn’t know a person’s worth ’til they’re gone. The story is bittersweet. Then again, goodbye is always sad. But it doesn’t end there, does it? :) Thanks for this story. It was wonderful! Again, I wish you a very Merry Christmas!
Well some people will be happy with this, anyway.I guess I shouldn’t have hoped this would be a Bette and Helena fic. While it was wrong for them to go to Montauk, neither of them were solely responsible for the problems in their relationships. Tina did say something about neglecting Bette but Tash didn’t say anything about being a mature adult. Not even the thought of Helena cheating onher made her mad or upset enough to even talk about it, even when Helena mentioned it..it was just brushed off..if Helena wants a doormat for a partner I guess she has one. Well anyway, Marry Christmas euni.
i i i i i i i … i can’t begin to tell you how upset i am…my heart dangles in despair…i i i i i can barely speak…i speak no longer…the lifeblood is draining from me…i i i can’t believe this is happening…i i i think you have attempted to slay me…but…behold…i arise…i shall rectify this severance of souls…i shall…i shall…say…meet me in mehico!
Zhee, may I be of assistance to youin your despair.. I feel the same, with much weeping, gnashing of teeth, tearing of hair, and so on..I can help you in between the tearings and gnashings! If you like that is…
awwwww…thanks Caeleigh…i really appreciate…have had a rough day…and euni knows how much i wubs her…but i know you hurt too…we’ll be okay, sweetie…we just gotta get some sweeps in…nighty night
Okay… I stopped by because of your wonderful reputation and I figured I was being silly skipping over B&H stories because I have a preference of the Tina variety… reading B w/anyone else is kinda like watching a scary movie for me; I close one eye, shade the other with my hand and prepare to cover it as soon as the action gets gory, lol! Well, to say I was surprised with the ‘fin’ would be an understatement! I was prepared for quite the opposite, as it would appear many of your other readers were. Now I have to start anew if I’m truly going to give B&H an open mind, LOL!!! Thank you, eunichick, not simply for an ending that was easy for the likes of me, but for sharing your amazing talent and crafting a masterful story!! I’m glad I stopped by and I’m looking forward to reading more of your work!!! SK/C
Who knows, maybe some day they will find their way back to each other…..but for now, they did the right thing,if in the end it does not work out,it won’t be for lack of trying .Thanks for the story ,and for respecting their relationship enough to have them fight for it,it could easily have gone the other way,for we can’t pretend that their feeling towards each other is not real, I’m also a bit disappointed that neither Tina or Tasha put up much of a fight for their relationship,at the first sign of trouble Tina got violent and ran and Tasha just sat their and said nothing….amazing!! HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Ok Ok i was actually expecting them to end up together, but i like the fact that they are fighting for their partners.Although i do wonder will they ever see each other again? Another great story i’ve enjoyed, things on my end are hectic but im hoping to post b4 xmas.im gutted because my xmas story wont be finished b4 xmas, happy holidays x
Aw Z baby don’t be sad I’m sure eunibaby is going to give us another REAL B&H story pretty soon with lots of hot steamy love making, right euni????? (looking at euni with puppydog eyes) As fot the story I kinda had a feeling it was going to be like this, I figured it was either Bette not showing up or one of them deciding it was not a good idea to give up everything they had for just an internet fling. BUT I didn’t expect this though, you surprised us once again missy :) Im going to miss this story but I still have Teenage Love Affair to look forward to :) and I’m sure the next story will be another amazing one. Happy holidays sweetie for you and grumpy :)
yeah, yeah, yeah…I know this was the right ending, but dammit this is fantasy – can you write a part 2 where B and H realize how horribly wrong they were and actually get together…pretty please!! So loved this Fic. Merry Christmas…Joyeux Noel!!!
Oh Cuzzie Cuz… each and every time I read your writing… every time I see your name up in lights I get so excited cause I know you are going to blow me away with your passions and power with words… each and every time and this was no exception. “Goodbye” is indeed one of the hardest things to do and you painted that painfully well… you are a brilliant writer… you have taken the road less traveled… you have challenged not only the readers who have been so very passionate within this story you have weaved but also yourself… heck you have never taken the easy route you have always challenged and this is one step further… I cannot wait for your next step within the world of words… I cannot wait for you to challenge me time and time again… for you are are writer of incredible fiber… incredible talents… incredible soul… love and hugs, JC (Latin Nephew to those Salsa Angels and your ever proud Cuzzie) PS – yes its been a while but with someone as picky as Grumpy to shop for I can see why you have been MIA… LOL… miss you and love you.
And everything is right again in the world…*sigh* I definitely felt the emotion of that…Very interesting that Tasha knew…did she display unconditional love, restraint, or nonchalance with the way she “dealt” with Helena? I’m still not sure…but I do realize some people given their background, experiences, and so on…do react in unexpected ways in relationships….At any rate, I definitely believe she loves Helena. Thank you for this lovely story…as much as I was hoping for this ending…I still had to shed a bittersweet tear…Please have a wonderful and safe holiday! Looking forward to your next post!
Perhaps this was Tasha’s mantra, “If you love somebody, let them go. If they return, they were always yours. If they don’t, they never were.”…I still have to say that was…and is great restraint! That is all…:)! lol! PPS
YES!!! *doing a happy dance*
