Lucky in Love (Chapter 6)

It was an attractive package. After all, Dana had a guarantee from the Peabody Foundation to make a million-dollar donation to breast cancer awareness and research, and had partnered with both the USTA and the WTA. She also had an agreement with Billie Jean King to secure players for the Pro-Celebrity event. It was the perfect strategic partnership to expand the brand of annual Mercedes Cup at UCLA. They signed the sponsorship contract the day Dana pitched the idea.
“C’mon Dane, wake up,” Alice’s voice drifted in through the haze and Dana groaned her protest. “Baby,” Al’s voice was more insistent this time, “open your eyes.”
As promised, the first thing Dana saw was Alice’s face. A smile crossed her lips automatically.
“Hi baby,” she croaked.
“How do you feel?” asked Alice as she reached for the lemonade ice chips Sharon brought with her in a cooler purchased especially for the occasion.
“Grateful for I.V. pain meds,” Dana joked.
“Don’t get used to them. The drip stops first thing in the morning,” Alice fed her some ice. “By the way, everything went perfectly,” She leaned in and kissed Dana’s forehead gingerly.
Lara picked Helena up at her office at four-thirty and headed across town. She’d kept the details of their first official date a surprise. Difficult as it was for her, Helena had played along.
“I can’t imagine what you’ve planned, Lara, but I already like something that gets me out of the office early on a Friday.”
“We’re going to have the quintessential American experience,” Lara teased.
“What?” Helena retorted somewhat facetiously. “Baseball, hotdogs and apple pie?” Lara was quiet, her face awash with disappointment. She turned her head slowly to Helena and nodded. “You mean, I’m right?” Helena stammered.
“Yeah,” Lara said. “Is it okay?”
“Anything you plan is more than okay,” Helena said. “But as it happens, I’ve never been to a baseball game and I adore the idea.”
“So Shane, not that I’m complaining, but what prompted this trip down memory lane?”
Shane pulled up her jeans and sat in the chair at the dressing table in Beth Kenyon’s boudoir.
“Does there have to be a reason?” She was dying for a smoke, but settled for another piece of Nicorette.

I have to admit, I was not sure I would Helena and Lara together, but wow somehow I really really like it. Loved Alice’s calendar too…I think if I imagined my own S3 and s4, this is how it would go…good stuff
Cheers to Beth for giving Shane that much needed advice, at least it’s a start right? This is great! Also loved the Danish naturally, and I’m intrigued as to what’s going to happen with the rest of the group. So, Please post soon!
Great update. I really enjoyed it. Dana and Alice are so adorable together it makes me get one of those “big goofy Dana grins” when I read it. I loved the calendar part. It made me laugh. That is totally something that Alice would do. I’m glad that everything went well with Dana’s surgery. I can’t wait for more. Oh…I live in New York but I was in L.A. for over a week, so I hadn’t read anything here in that amount of time. I just finally got all caught up with everything…I think. Anyway, great job. I’m loving it.
awwwwwwwwww…i can’t believe i like the idea of lara and helena so much. at first it was hard to picture but i really think they make a good match. bette and tina are doing decently, good for them. and i love dana and alice, three weeks cant come soon enough!
Lara and Helena, I liked their date, it started with disaster, but ended very nice, lol. And Alice was as usual her adorable self. I loved the calender and the big heart marking the special day to come. Very sweet. :)

That was a sweet update. I didn’t think I would like Helene and Lara so much. But it’s starting to grow on me! As for the Danish part, that was just great. They are so sweet and in love. And of course the calender part was amazing. Looking forward to the next update!

This was great…I can see Lara & Helena (especially if Helena is away from Bette) It’s nice to see Bette & Tina taking it slow (even though On Demand surfing is another word for foreplay…lol) The part with Alice & Dana was good…I wish it had happened that way on the show…they didn’t have to kill her off, I have my fingers crossed that it turns out to be a dream on the show. Please post soon.
I’m really enjoying this story Sammy. I usually don’t care too much for the other characters. I mean they are cool and all, but I am obsessed with Danish, so great job because I am actually enjoying the rest of the storylines as well :D Keep up the great work my friend! Looking forward to the next chapter.
First time reader….this is quite excellent. I enjoyed all the stories and the manner in which you interconnect their lives. Intelligently written, clever and funny.
Helena and Lara….hmmm…I like it! Never thought of it, but it works and it was hot. Very funny at the ballpark. AND, I am so happy that everything went well for Dana and that she is recovering with Alice’s help and sense of humor. ( I still don’t know how I’m going to watch S4 without Dana) Bette and Tina trying to get along for Angelica’s sake and hopefully will find each other along the way. Post again soon.
Another sweet blending of love and life; merging both to be enjoyed like a midnight latte. Thank you for that! I love how you toggle between all the relationships within one chapter, rather than making each one about a specific pairing.
