Love Is a Fragile Thing 31

    “Well here we are.”

    “Thanks for the ride.”

“Anytime, but we should thank my mother, she’s the one who is giving us a break from the kids.”

Tina chuckles. “I know, finally peace and quiet in the house.”

Bette chuckles. “Yeah, Missy must be having a good time because she hasn’t given me a call.”

“She’s a big girl she can take care of herself, plus she’s with Dana and Lara.”

    “Yeah”

It was quiet for a moment.

“So what are you going to do now?”

“I’m not sure, I guess I’ll read a book. What about you?”

“I don’t know either. I think I’ll call home and check up on the gallery.”

    “Okay, well umm, good night.”

    “Good night”

They gave each other a hug. They let go and Tina got out. Bette watched her walk up to the door, open it, and waved good bye. Tina watched her pull out of the driveway and drive off. She sat on the couch and put her head back.

    “What is wrong with me?”

She sat frustrated on the couch. At that moment it began to rain. Tina looked out the window and watched the drops of water fall.

    “Wow its raining”

She closed her eyes and listened to the rain. Her eyes were closed for a few minutes and fell asleep.

When Bette drove off she was upset with herself as well.

    “What is wrong with me?”

The rain began to fall and she drove continuously frustrated.

“What if we try again and it doesn’t work out?” “What will mom say?” “It won’t work”

As she was talking to herself she started slowing down. “I can’t, we can’t, it won’t work”

She was trying to talk herself out of it but she turned around anyway. It was still pouring outside and she finally pulled up at Tina’s house again. She got out not even paying attention to how wet she was getting. She walked up to the porch and lost her nerve again and turned around.

Tina thought she heard a car pull up but she just thought that she was hearing things so she kept her eyes close than she heard footsteps on the porch. She opened her eyes and got up. At that moment she saw Bette walking away. She quickly opens the door.
