Love in the South – Chapter 3

"So is Casey," Bette stated.  "The boys, well, their easy to please.  Get them something funny with action, yet family oriented."

"O.K. so we have a comedy, a romance, a drama, and a family oriented," Tina stated as she paid for the movies.  "Now off to get the ice cream."

They got back into Bette’s car and drove off towards Tina’s house.  This time the car wasn’t so quiet.  "T, you still haven’t answered my question.  What are we doing?" Bette asked again.  She knew she still loved Tina, but she also remembered how bad things had gotten between them.

"Bette," Tina began, "baby, things got really ugly between us, but that was 15 years and four kids ago.  I’d like to wipe the slate clean and start over.  If, that’s O.K. with you?"

"I, I, I don’t know, T," Bette stuttered hesitantly.  "I’d love to start over again, but I’m afraid.  I don’t want those feelings to come between us or the kids.  I’m afraid that if we did get back together and things didn’t work out…I don’t think it would be fair to the kids.  Everything that’s happened today is so overwhelming," she said finally showing some sad emotions.

"Bette, I know what your thinking and you can stop.  Stop thinking that right now!  I’m not ever going to stand in the way of our children and you," she said just as Bette pulled into Tina’s drive and shut the car off.  "What are you doing?  The store’s down the road."

"I figured we could walk to the store and talk some more," replied Bette wanting more time alone with Tina.  Talking after 15 years was great therapy for them.  She was getting things off of her chest she should have gotten off years ago and so was Tina.  Things had settled down between them so they could talk rationally.

"Oh, O.K.," Tina answered.  "I’ll just go drop the movies off to Angie," and went in the house.  "Angie!  Kids!" she yelled.

All five kids come running out of the living room with looks of surprise on their faces.  "What’s up mommy?" asked Angelica.

Tina just looked at them all suspiciously, "Bette and I are going to walk to the store down the block to get some ice cream.  Here are the movies.  We’ll be back in a few.  Are you sure everything’s all right?"

    1. I knew you would stop it before the video played. That’s okay. Happy that Kit is surprising them with Shane and Alice. Oh, is Dana in heaven in your story? If not where is she? Love this story. Can hardly wait for more.

    2. This is so cute. I can appreciate Bette being apprehensive, I mean 15 years and she STILL couldn’t see Angelica, now all of a sudden Tina wants to be the Brady Bunch. Take it slow Bette. Love this story!
