Love in the South – Chapter 3

    Previously…

The boys looked at each other and said with a mischievous grin, "O.K. We’ll be good."

As Tina and Bette walked to Bette’s car, they looked at each other and said at the same time, "I don’t trust those boys."  Laughing, they got into the car and drove off.

    Earlier that day in L.A…

Kit finished packing the major things she needed just as she hung up the phone with Tina and went to The Planet.  As she walked in and looked around, she had a twinkle in her eye and that Porter smile.  She spotted Alice and Shane sitting at a table chatting about something.  She went over and sat down, "Hey guys!"

"Hey Kit," both girls responded.  "What’s up?" asked Shane.

"Well, I’m going to New Orleans in a couple of days to open my third location," replied Kit excitedly.  "I hope everything goes well here while I’m gone."

"Oh my! Kit!  Congratulations!" was the response she got from both girls and they all quieted down.

Alice took a sip of her coffee, put the cup down and tapped Shane on the arm.  "Mph…There’s my story!  Kit, I’m coming with you to New Orleans!" she exclaimed.  "When are you leaving?"

"My flight is at 8:00 a.m. in two days," Kit replied.

Shane nods her head and smiled as a dazzling beauty caught her eye from across the room, "There you go Al."

"Shane, your coming too right?  I mean I’ll need an assistant in this storyline," Alice said to Shane with a wink.

"I don’t know Al," Shane said hesitantly, "I need to pay my rent and don’t have the money to splurge on a hotel room."

"Nonsense girl!" Kit interrupted.  "I’ve got the room.  Don’t worry about that.  There’s a very nice apartment over the coffee shop."

"O.K. O.K." Shane laughingly replied, "I’ll go.  I’ll go, but only if you insist."

"Oh we insist!" Alice and Kit stated.  "Well, I’m going to go take care of the details with my boss," Alice continued, "and call you later Shane."

"Hmm?  Yeah." Shane said with a smile.  "Look, Al, if I don’t answer, just leave a message."

Alice turned to see what Shane had been smiling about, "O.K.  You, go have fun.  Bye Kit," and left the building.  Shane smiled and waived her friend goodbye.  The girl that Shane had been smiling at came over, whispered something in her ear, and they both left.  "See you later Kit," Shane said with a smile.
