LOVE AND PRIDE — Chapter 7
Bette smiled at the blonde
“I would love a coffee “
Tina led Bette through the deserted corridors leading to her hall of residence. She shared a kitchen with seven other girls — all of whom would be out on a Saturday night.
She felt nervous – she didn’t entertain very often and certainly never someone as fascinating as this brunette. She was popular with the other under graduates but she had so far held part of herself back.
The other girls were pretty and loud and they all seemed just more self assured than the girl from North Carolina. Tina had naturally gravitated to Lara Perkins – partially because she was an American but also because Lara seemed as shy as Tina.
Tina opened her door and let the dark haired beauty glide into her room. Her room was small – it held a single bed, wardrobe, desk, chair and hand basin.
Bette saw the books and files neatly stacked above the desk. The small but good quality hi-fi on the edge of the desk.
There were two posters on the wall — an anti war poster and the legendary prism that represented Dark Side of the moon. They caused her to warm further to this young woman who she was already fascinated by.
“You can have the chair, the bed or the window seat “
“I’ll take the window seat “
“How do you take your coffee ?”
“Black “
“Are you hungry ?”
“A bit “
“Toast or a baked potato ?”
“Toast is fine – can I help ? “
“My cooking talents about stretches to toast – I make it often enough –jam, marmite or peanut butter ?”
“Peanut butter “
Tina indicated the hi-fi and the black cassette case beside it
“Pick some music “
Left alone Bette picked up the case and looked through Tina’s tapes
She seemed like a rock chick with an interesting mix of classics – in fact they had a lot of the same stuff. Bette was deeply impressed with Tina’s older stuff –

AH! That song holds IMMENSE meaning for me, so I can imagine how Bette feels about it. Love the development. Hope they see more of each other soon!
Love where this is going, though I’m not sure how Bette’s going to tell Helena. Great twist with the earring. We know its only Tuesday and you’ve posted twice, but will take as many as you can give us.

Ah, Mama Cass. Crap, you got a kitchen in your dorm and a sink in your room?!? I got to share a bathroom, one of everything as I recall, with 4 others, no cooking allowed. Needless to say, next year off campus in my own apartment. With both the blonde and the brunette being so shy, who’s going to move this thing forward? Those hormones have to be thumping about now.

Ah… the earring ‘reprised’…
My goodness this chapter is so touching! I could feel Bette’s pain, angst, love, lust, longing… *sigh* My poor Bette. Tina, open your eyes, sweetheart! You’re going to miss out on true love and your soulmate. I can understand that Bette is in a quite precarious situation with her cousin or whatever she is… but, the girl is a liar and a cheat. In my opinion, she doesn’t deserve loyalty. Obviously she doesn’t love Tina the way she should, IF she loves her at all. Looks to me as if she simply likes to have a trophy at home… all polished, pretty and waiting for her to come home… and a few trinkets to play with whenever the mood suits her. I find her character a bit disgusting. I hope Tina doesn’t marry her. I doubt what’s-her-name would even be hurt very much. Maybe her pride would suffer a blow or two, but certainly not her heart. And anyway, I wouldn’t give a rat’s @ss if she was hurt. She won’t get any sympathy from me. I love this stroy. The feelings I’m experiencing while reading this, are a tad intense, to say the least. You’re doing great with it. Keep it up, please. Hopefully, Tina and Bette will find each other despite the drama that I am sure will ensue. Please, post soon. This is like a good book that you simply hate to put down. Thanks!
LOLOLOL! Oops. I mixed my comments up on some chapters I just read. *shaking my head* That’s what I get for trying to sneak and read this fanfic at work and having mulitple screens open. But I apologize for thinking that as it is a real mix up! LOL!!! Okay, back to you, Ally! *deep sigh again* What the hell are you doing to me girl??? First we had L Wing,… and now L&P??? I’m so hooked it scares me ;) Indeed, it’s like a great book, except here, you can’t turn the page until next post!!! I know it was great to have two posts this week, but I’ll take as much as you can post! And just to comment on this chappy, it was extremely sweet and the ending song wrapped the whole thing up in the best way! I don’t think there is much to do with Helena anymore. It’s not like they were married or even engaged… Plus the bet is like… ugh! They’re young, free, and Helena had her chance and she blew it! Plus, it’s crystal clear that those two clicked and that there is some serious connection between them! I love this and can’t wait to see the slow and fascinating process ‘a la Ally’ of getting them together. (I’m hoping for Bette singing in the band and of course to Tina) Oh, and I also loved the earring wink! Thaaaaaanks…
Ok ok ok I am home now. Maybe I can get this post thing right this time. I realized my mistake as soon as I clicked the ‘leave comment’ button.. but there is no way to stop it. *shrug* LOL! Now… How sweet are these two? They are just endearing, sitting and talking til all hours of the night. Maybe Tina can bring her out of her shell. Cause seriously, people… Bette is a ‘hot house flower’ ready to blossom! They are just too cute for words. The chemistry and rapport that naturally exists between them is so nice to watch… errr… read. *sigh* Tina, forget all about Hellena. She blew her chance bigtime! Bette, don’tcha think you should take Tina back her earring sometime soon… Perhaps give it to her over dinner one evening or something like that? =) I am definitely checking for an update. I am so enjoying this little story! I am happy that Bette is not the sexually experienced “player” that most stories make her out to be. I figured she was not always like that and had to have groomed over the years. Tt’s refreshing to see her as a geek, a lovable geek! I hope you make Tina the aggressor in this story but it would seem this will be a slow burn which I love! Between you and Herotica, my week is already better!

I thought when Bette asked Tina if kissing a woman was better than kissing a man that Tina might just show her. Well I guess I will just have to wait for that to happen, but Ally not to long please.
I was hoping when Tina was saying that she liked the way it felt kissing Lara and she wanted to see if kissing Helena was just as nice that she would ask Bette if she could kiss her too. But I guess that would have been pushing it. So was Helena drunk out of guilt or frustration after her date with Tina. I think Helena really likes her but oh well can’t fight destiny. Keep posting.
