    London Lights Chapter Five

“Shane? Come on, follow me” I feel Helenas hand on my shoulder, pushing me towards the entrance. “You’ll love this place”

“Yeah I’m sure I will” I nod back at her. I should at least pretend to be grateful to her, I know she worked hard to make this trip as painless as possible for me. I just wish I’d worn nicer sneakers.

I enter the plush reception, people seem to come out of nowhere to ask if they can help with my bag. “It’s fine thanks” I shrug them off.

“Miss Peabody. Its wonderful to see you again” The man spoke in a posh accent, the kind I’ve only heard in those awful period dramas Jenny makes me watch.

“Hello, I spoke to you on the phone yesterday” Helena’s posture had changed, she held herself high again and spoke with authority. I think back to when I first met her, how intimidating she could be.

“Yes Miss Peabody. Theres been a slight problem with your booking”

“Problem? What kind of problem?” Helena asked

“Whats wrong Helena?” Bette walked over to her to help

“Well Miss Peabody you booked your usual suite but unfortunatly theres been a complication” The man seemed nervous

“What do you mean? I always have that suite, it’s a family tradition” Helenas voice shook with anger

“How did this happen?” Bette buts in, worrying that Helenas brattish attitude might not be helping the situation.

“Theres been another booking for the same suite” He continued

“When did this happen?” Helena slammed her reference number on the desk. “If you doubled booked it I really don’t see that its my problem. I refuse to stay anywhere else”

“So do I” A familiar voice came from behind her. Bette and Helena turned around and their faces sank in shock.

    “Hello Darling”

    “Hello Mother”
