    Living for Love: Chapter 18

It was 7:30 and it was Ladies Night at "The Planet". It was jam packed with hot women left and right. By the time Alice and Dana got there, the gang had set a table near the center stage.

Shane asked, ‘Bette, did Kit tell you who she’s got here tonight?’

    Bette answered, ‘No, not yet.’

Alice asked, ‘What about you, Carmen?’

Carmen said, ‘Hey, I’m the regular DJ but even I don’t know. And I’m an employee here.’

Dana said, ‘Now that’s just cold. She could have atleast told an employee what’s going on.’

Alice said, ‘I know. It’s not like we’re strangers or the paparazzi. You know?’

Jenny asked, ‘What are you talking about?’

Alice replied, ‘What do you mean?’

Jenny said, ‘You couldn’t keep a secret with duct tape over your mouth.’

Dana said, ‘I beg to differ on that.’

    Alice said, ‘Thank you.’

Dana said, ‘There is only one sure fire way for her to keep a secret.’

    Carmen asked, ‘How?’

Dana answered, ‘Kiss her on the lips. It’s the only way you are gonna get her to SHEEUUT UP.’ Then she laid one smacker on Alice’s mouth. She wasn’t bothered by what Dana said. They were just passing the time until the show.

    Tina asked, ‘Shane, where’s Shay?’

Shane said, ‘He’s at home with brother Max.’

Shay was cool with his sister being gay. And he wasn’t bothered by living with someone who went through sexual reassignment and surgery. Max was just another person as far as Shay was concerned. When he stood in the library and said "My sister is gay", Shane was more proud of him than she’d ever felt her entire life. He didn’t have to stick up for his big sister but he did. That’s the kind of maturity some of the parents, or "Civil Servants", hadn’t managed to develop. Some claimed to uphold the Bible and yet they also protected violent protesters as well as try to turn people away from the gay "lifestyle". As dumb as people could get, this boy, abandoned by his parents, in elementary school, had an open mind and more than an open heart.

Shane said, ‘I asked Max if he wanted to come for the show and he said "No thanks". Then I asked if he’d babysit Shay. He was cool with it.’
