Previously:

"Well that’s all you are going to get until later." Jess said getting out of the car. Laurie quickly followed her. Jess put her arm around her and they walked in together.

Jess sat in her bed watching TV talking with Laurie on the phone.

Shannon appeared in her doorway.

"Can I come in?" She asked.

"Its a free world." Jess said. Shannon started in the room. Jess continued to talk on the phone.

Shannon sat down in Jess’s comfy chair and watched Adult Swim which was on the TV. Jess hung with Laurie about 30 minutes later.

They sat in silence for about ten minutes before Shannon got up the courage to say something.

"So are you really okay with me joining the team?" She asked without looking at Jess.

"I was told I don’t have a choice, but if I didn’t it would still be all right. I was just a little surprised earlier." Jess said.

"I am not sure I believe you." She said.

"That’s your choice, but I’m not lying to you." Jess said.

"I know but I don’t know whether it was something that you came to on your own or if you forced to fell that way by someone else." Shannon said.

"Shannon it doesn’t matter what I think or how I feel. This is a great opportunity for you. If you practice with us this summer you will have a chance to try out for the national team in the summer. If you make it you can travel all over the world and compete against the best players in the world." Jess said.

"You make a good point, but what about you? Don’t you want to try out for the national team?" Shannon asked.

"Yeah but wouldn’t it be cool if we both made it." Jess said. Shannon smiled.

Bette and Tina’s Room

Bette and Tina sat in the bed pretending to read. They were listening closely to Jess’s and Shannon’s conversation.

Tina started shaking her head with a smile.

"The power of suggestion." Tina said.

"The what?" Jess asked.

"Whenever we want you or Jess to do something we want we just suggest it and then let you sit and think about it for the while. You usually agree to do it." Tina said.
