“Don’t worry about there isn’t anything wrong.” Jess said laying down.

“I can’t fix it if you don’t tell me.” Tina said. One of the babies starting to cry.

“I will be right back I promise.” Tina said getting up and heading down stairs.

“Yeah right” Jess said under her breath and cutting the lights off.

Tina walked back into Jess’s room with Ian in her arms. Tina sat down on the bed next to her and watched her sleep for awhile. Bette came up with Teddy and appeared in the doorway.

“What are you doing?” Bette whispered.

“Trying to figure out what is going on with her.” She answered quietly.

“What do you mean?” Bette asked.

“Something has been bothering Jess and I don’t know what it is and she won’t tell me. You haven’t noticed how aloof she has been lately.” Tina said. Bette nodded no.

“I have been a preoccupied lately. It seems like every time I try to talk to her. She has to go somewhere or one of the boys start crying.” Bette said.

“Me too” Tina said. “That has got to be it. She was giving us all the signals and we were doing the one thing that we promised her that we wouldn’t do.”

“Maybe we should hire that nanny we were talking about. That way when you go back to work on Wednesday we will both have time to spend with her.” Bette said.

“Maybe?” Tina said back.

“We better get some sleep while we can.” Bette said.

“Okay.” Tina said leaning over and giving Jess a kiss.

KNOCK KNOCK

“Jess Kelly and Carter are here.” Tina said. Jess grabbed her book bag and bat bag and headed out the door. Tina followed her out.

“Hey Jess.” Carter said.

“HI Ms. Carter.” Jess replied. Kelly got out the car and helped Jess put her stuff in the back of their Tahoe.

“Hi Tina.” Carter said.

“Hey Carter I really appreciate you guys picking Jess up on the way to school.” Tina said.

“Don’t mention it. Do want me to drop her off here after practice this afternoon?” She asked

“I am going to try and get her and maybe go do something together tonight.” Tina said.
