Life with Mom and Tina Ch 155

"You know, School, Softball, and Stuff." Jess said.

"What kind of stuff?" Tina asked.

    "Just hanging out." Jess said.

"That’s cool. So where is the hot spot now?" Tina asked. Jess looked at Tina.

"Just this place at the beach." Jess said.

"Oh okay." Tina said. The silence was broken by Jess flipping through one of the scripts. "Jess please talk to me. We used to be so close but I feel like you have been pushing me away since." Tina was starting to cry.

"I haven’t been pushing you away. I have just been busy." Jess said.

"Is it the baby?" Tina asked.

    "No." Jess said.

    "Yes it is." Tina said.

"No it’s not the baby." Jess said still flipping through the scripts. She couldn’t look Tina in the eye because she knew that she would know that she was lying. Tina knew it anyway.

"Can I tell you a secret that know one else knows not even Mom?" Tina asked.

"You guys don’t have secrets from each other." Jess said.

    "We have one." Tina said.

"Oh yeah what is it?" Jess said.

"You’re are going to have another sister." Tina said with a smile.

"What’s so great about sisters?" Jess said quietly. Tina was finally starting to understand what was going on with her daughter.

"I know you miss Shannon. We all do." Tina said.

"No I don’t not anymore. She’s the one that left." Jess said getting up off the bed.

    "Jess don’t go." Tina said.

"I have homework to do." Jess said totally lying.

Tina sat on the bed thinking. Jess was so much like Bette it was ridicules. She his her emotions from everyone. Sometimes it was frustrating. She heard Jess in her room. She didn’t hear her cry but she knew she was.

"Jess please come back down." Tina said towards the vent. The vent closed.

Tina looked over at the picture she always kept on her bedside table. It was of her and Jess the night after the boys were born. They were asleep in the bed together, Alice had taking the picture.

Tina stood and headed up the stairs. She knocked on Jess’s door. There was no answer. She opened the door and went in. Jess was no where to be found. She quickly crossed to the window to see if Jess was sitting on the porch roof as she often did. She wasn’t there. Tina’s heart started to race.

    1. Maybe that couch was not comfortable after all. Jess was always the one to feel left out after each child came into the family. She became the one that everybody went to when in pain or hurting for other reasons. She is a special young woman just like her moms.

    2. I have followed this story from the beginning and have loved all that you have written. Laughter mostly, but deep emotions have been felt with each chapter. You have embraced this family and have so wonderfully portrayed so many life experiences in this one story. I read Seahurst’s “If it is meant to be” story and anticipted every chapter as I do yours today. It is often said, but I truly mean this, as long as you write, I’ll read!!! You as well as the other writers have kept these characters alive in so many ways and we are so grateful for quality fan fiction to keep us going in between seasons.
