Life Happens: All Over the Map

Helena sipped her coffee and looked up at the hovering smog in the air above. LA was so goddamn polluted, but, she supposed, so was London. She was distracted by Catherine who approached her from behind. Her lips were heavenly as always, tracing intricate designs over Helena’s neck.  There was only one problem…

“Ugh, go away Catherine.  We’re in Bette’s backyard! I’m not going to fuck you here for godsake.” Helena rolled her eyes at Catherine’s angry expression, but softened her tone. “I’m sorry, darling, it’s just strange, being here with you.”

“Helena, I’ve missed you! We have the house to ourselves until Bette wakes up. And, you know, we could always sneak inside, go into Bette’s bedroom…”

“CATHERINE! Ew! No, we are not having a threesome with Bette.” Helena nearly pushed Catherine into the pool. What was she doing here with Catherine? Sitting heavily on one of Bette’s lounge chairs, Helena frowned. She was pouting, she knew it, but she didn’t care. Catherine walked over and crouched beside Helena.

“Look, I’m sorry, again, I really am. Won’t you let me make it up to you?”

Taking a deep breath, Helena turned and shook her head. “Let’s just talk about it later.” She accepted Catherine’s kiss reluctantly. Helena looked at her, really looked, for the first time in their relationship. “Catherine, how did you say your family got its money? I mean, scratch that, too touchy. Where did you grow up? How did you grow up? I don’t know anything about you, you do realize this?”

Catherine smiled. “Well, in answer to your first question: business. I don’t mind your asking, but it does reveal the color of your blood my darling.” Helena genuinely laughed for the first time since Catherine had shown up at the Planet. “And as for how I grew up, well, my mother is a racist bitch and my father is an asshole. Oh, and he’s from Hong Kong. But he’s still an asshole.” Catherine started laughing so hard that she nearly fell over. “Anyway, I don’t speak with either of them,” she added, when she had calmed down.

They were quiet for a few minutes. “So…” Helena began. “What do you want to do with our afternoon? I assume that Bette will wake up fairly soon, but in the meantime…?” Helena stood up as Catherine tugged on her hand. “What?”

    1. That was kind of harsh, relegating James to the sub-human. OK, so I like Catherine a little better now, but she still needs to go. (The one on the show is a souless cypher.) It was interesting how she and Bette connected, though. Now why didn’t Helena lock the door and finish what she started after Phyllis split?

    2. I thought this chapter was about both Bette and Helena realizing certain things. Bette is jealous of Helena’s past lovers, and Helena wants to do something with her life, maybe even in the way of art, is that right? They love each other and maybe even though they think they’re not ready, they are whether they like it or not. Office sex never goes well, lol. Too true. I really liked this. Thanks.

    3. wow -you can humanize any naughty girl can’t you – amazing. I still don’t like Catherine but I like how you are having Helena evolve. I’m still amazed you converted me. Amazed but glad to read on…more please.

    4. This chapter covered a lot and was a little confusing at time but the bottom line is that they are caring for each other even if they are not ready to commit to each other.i’m so happy they did not have a three some
