Life changes unexpectedly – Chapter 28

“Bette? Why the wine? You never drink, at least not on a weekday.” Tina asks again.
“I just needed to calm down that’s all. I didn’t drink the whole bottle, just a few glasses.” Bette replies.
“And you had the trip to the cemetery, how did it go? You want to talk about it?” Tina asks.
“It’s always emotional, it’s another Christmas Zack wont be able to see. It’s heartbreaking.” Bette says as the tears surfaces again.
“Oh babe, I’m sorry, come here.” Tina says and open her arms for Bette to walk into.
“You can cry, it’s okay to cry for them with me.” Tina whispers while she strokes Bettes hair softly. After a few minutes of silence, just Tina holding Bette, they separate enough so they can look into each others eyes.
“I’m sorry about this morning. I should have talked to you about it, about how I was feeling and… I didn’t. and I’m sorry for that.” Tina says and walks closer to Bette.
“Can we talk about it now? I’d like to talk about it with you.” Tina says.
“Sure, go and take a seat, I’ll bring your food. Do you want something to drink?” Bette asks.
“No, I’m fine, I have a coke in my bag.” Tina says and walks back to the living room and takes a seat on the couch.
Few minutes later Bette walks in and places the food in front of Tina.
“Here you go.” She says and takes a seat.
“Thank you.” Tina says and brings the plate onto her lap.
There’s a few minutes of silence as Tina eats, Bette is looking a little nervously at Tina.
“I panicked a little.” Bette suddenly says. “That’s why I came on a little harsh. It’s the season, and I’m reminded that life is fragile and that you can loose someone instantly. When I heard you says that you needed space, I panicked. I’m sorry.” Bette says.
Tina put the plate down on the table and gets closer to Bette. She takes her hands.
“You’re not gonna loose me Bette. I just realized that I needed some alone time, time with myself, process everything that’s happened the last few months. And that’s a lot. I almost haven’t had one day to myself since we met. Which isn’t a bad thing, believe me. But then the accident happened and now the surgery. I just need some time to comprehend everything. And I thought I’d do that now, before the Christmas and my small minded family.” Tina says.

I am glad that Tina did not know how much Bette is worth. This way Bette will know for sure that it her and not the money that Tina loves. Tina does not seem the type to care about money though.
