The following morning, Dana’s alarm clock bleeped at 5.45 a.m. Alice groaned as she glanced at the figures on her own clock before grumbling ‘What are you getting up for Dana? It’s the middle of the night!’ ‘Oh, sorry Alice, I get up early every morning to go for a run to keep fit. Gotta keep fit if you’re doing a degree in physical education’ Dana laughed.

Alice giggled at the faces Dana was pulling as she started getting dressed. ‘Maybe one day I could join ya for one of your runs?’ Alice enquired. Dana’s heart leapt at the thought of her and Alice getting sweaty and breathless together and immediately replied ‘I’d love that! Nobody ever comes running with me!’ She had a goofy grin on her face. Alice smiled before turning over and muttering ‘Goodnight then Dane’ as Dana headed out of the door.

An hour later, Dana returned from her workout and was greeted by a snoring Alice. ‘That is so cute’ Dana whispered under her breath as she headed for a refreshing shower leaving a trail of her workout clothes behind her.

Alice awoke to the sound of the shower water running and looked around the room, momentarily forgetting where she was. As she spotted the strewn clothes, the thoughts of Dana came flooding back to her and she grinned to herself. This year was going to be a good one.

Dana stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around her body and one around her hair before returning to the bedroom to find some fresh clothes to suit her first proper day of freshers week. Alice tried her best to keep her jaw attached to her head as she saw Dana’s tanned and muscular body wrapped in nothing but a skimpy towel.

Dana blushed when she realised Alice was awake and almost tripped on her discarded shorts as she walked towards her wardrobe. Once her head was clear from view, Dana attempted to make conversation ‘Morning. Again. Alice’. She even managed a laugh. Alice giggled and replied ‘Why good morning Dana. How was your run?’ ‘Yeah, great thanks. I didn’t get lost either which was a bonus’. ‘Well, yeah, I mean yeah that’s always good’ Alice responded still half asleep.
