Leap of Faith (Chapter 8)
Jenny was a different story entirely. She barely touched her food and downed a martini for each course.
“Tres gauche,” she announced loudly as the rosé was poured. Shane and Kit attempted to mollify her, to no avail. “Please,” Jenny said, “this is an affront to fine dining.”
“For someone who didn’t know escargot from peanut butter and jelly when we met,” Bette replied in a steely tone, catching and holding Jenny’s gaze, “you have a lot of opinions.”
“That’s not helping, baby-sis,” Kit whispered.
“I think that you should listen to your big sister, Bette,” Jenny countered, “and mind your own business.” She broke the stare down and directed her next comment to Lara. “You’re the only one here who seems to know how to celebrate. What do you say? Do you want to blow them off and go have some fun?” Helena couldn’t believe Jenny’s gall. She quickly ticked off her options, should Lara agree. “She can come too I suppose.” Jenny nodded towards Helena. “Who knows? Maybe we’ll even have a little threesome before the night is over.” Jenny never broke a smile.
“Maybe some other time,” was all Lara could manage to say. The truth was she wanted to get of there, but all she really wanted to do was go home. In her inebriated state, she couldn’t quite figure out if Jenny was really propositioning her.
“That’s enough, Jen,” Shane said sharply. “Either behave yourself or I’ll…”
“You’ll what…Shane?” Jenny’s challenge was slurred.
“I’ll throw you over my shoulder and personally carry your drunk ass out of here.” No one, not even Jenny, doubted her. “It’s either that or you come with me to get some air right now.”
Moments after Shane and Jenny made their way though the maze of tables, the lights dimmed and a highlights package of the day’s play and best zingers was screened. A spotlight found Dana and Beth at the microphone when it ended. Together they acknowledged their title and presenting sponsors and all of the people there.
“Well that was interesting,” Kit tried to lighten the sullen mood at the table. “Are you sure you weren’t tempted even a little bit Lara?” Even Bette laughed at the thought.
“Not even a little bit,” Lara answered, a little too loudly. “How can you even ask me that? Are you serious?”

yikes! That cliffhanger was scary. I wonder what you have in store for Danish. Should I be worried?I hope your appointment is going to be ok. I’m fine so far. Not much happening to be honest. Same old same old. :)
Thank you for your shoutout. James is only a puppy and it will take time and lots of patience to train him. I am glad that he is adding joy to your life. Thank you for the warning. I hope it would have nothing to do with the baby. I know you will take good care of them ultimately. This chapter, as usual, was filled with plenty of actions. I am always amazed by how well you write. Glad to see the gala was successful and went without any problems and the gang was all there to support them. That was really sweet that D got the bracelet for A. Hope they would rest well in the next few days. lol when Shane stopped Jenny from further embarrassing herself. I am so glad that Shane opened up to Beth and maybe finally, Shane could get more grounded with Beth’s TLC. SammysGirl, excellent post and thank you very much.
I’m rocking my version of the HDD. Woot-woot!! I am glad to hear we will see regular posts from you. Don’t feel bad if you miss any target dates. We will wait patiently. On to the comments… ThinkPink went much better — even with Lara and Jenny acting up. Jenny needs to globetrot off to somewhere else. What a pain in the ass. The confrontation between Bette, Tina and Ava doesn’t bode well for the future. The bracelet thing was so cute and a nice touch. Dana was sweet to make sure Alice got proper credit for all her hard work. They really are true partners. Lara and Helena seem like such a good pair. I hope they can get past all the obstacles (real and imagined) that are between them right now. I absolutely love how you handled Shane and Beth in this chapter. I love seeing some growth in Shane. That is another couple that seems like a great fit — as odd as they may seem from the outside. As always, the NC-17 was excellent — especially the Danish at the end. Hot. Let me add my concern at the cliffhanger. The good thing is that you have built an amazingly strong Danish — I think they can get through just about anything. Thanks so much, SG, for another outstanding chapter!!
Great stuff…the end has me a little worried…thank you for writing this story…how can I get tickets to the next Think Pink…lol
Crapola is what the cliffhanger makes me feel is coming. I hope I am wrong though. Fantastic writing!
Yay! was so excited to read your next part but that ending has me worried! PPS!!! :D
Well, I can say with certainty that your cliffhanger is the most worrying I’ve read thus far in my fanfic obsession. Poor Danish. As to the central idea behind the story, I fully agree that we all try to make the best choices we can, to the best of our ability. I also think that some of the negative repercussions that everyone experiences help us to grow and learn. i do think life is just a constant attempt to better ourselves, or at least it should be. It shines through beautifully in your story if you had any doubt of that. I’m babbling, but as always, this is fantastic. All the storylines have me hooked, and I’m anxious to see what happens in the future. Take your time though, this story is definitely worth the wait.
wow… that cliffhanger has me so worried. This is the first time i have commented on any of your posts and I just wanted to say that I have truly enjoyed reading your creation. It is 10 times better than the show. -A
