“Are you not feeling well?” Dana asked automatically.
“I’m fine.” Shane gave up and moved a pan off the burner before lighting the cigarette at the stove. “I’m just really tired with the business and all. You guys know how it is.”
“We heard you finally found the time to call Beth.” Alice opened the doors to the patio and sat at the table, forcing Shane to follow her into the bright sunshine.
“Way to go,” Dana said. “It’s about time.”
“Fuck off.” Shane struggled to adjust to the light.
“She was being serious,” said Alice, her hand reflexively at the small of Dana’s back. “Play nice, will you?”
“Yeah, alright,” Shane answered with an embarrassed smile after a long pause. “But we’re taking things very slowly, so you don’t need to be asking me about it every ten minutes, you got that?”
“Yes sir,” Al answered with a little salute, “We got it.”
“I think that’s a good thing,” Dana sounded tentative, afraid of having her head handed to her again. “It is a good thing, isn’t it?”
“It is what it is.” Shane heard her own ambivalence and reached down into herself to change it. “Beth is an amazing woman and I’m going to do everything I can to give us a chance to work.” She actually felt noticeably better as the words hit the air.
“You know that this is totally different from Carmen, right?” Alice met her startled look and let that sink in before continuing. “You’re both going into this with your eyes open, plus you’ve already worked hard to get to the point where you can hold up your end of a relationship.”
Shane didn’t reply immediately. There was so much truth in Al’s observation, but had she known the secret Shane was keeping, surely she would change her mind. On the other hand, despite this burden, Shane knew that Beth was the only thing that gave her life any meaning and that was something different, so maybe Alice was right.
“You better keep an eye on her Dane,” she said with a surly smile. “She’s moving in on my Yoda territory and I might have to go Darth Vader on her ass.”
“Well if anyone can get in touch with the dark side, you can,” Alice shot back. “Now can we go eat? I’m fucking starving.”

Loved it, but that goes without saying since I always do. That Nadia’s just asking for Tina to open a can of whoop-ass, methinks. I’m worried about Shane, I hope she can calm down and stop beating herself up over something that hasn’t happened yet. The Danish scenes were great, I love it when Alice gets all protective. And the closing scene was just wow.
SGal, I just want to know what would “going Darth Vader” on someone look like??? ROFLMAO!! LOVED IT! This was a classic too, “At least I didn’t take three years of lessons before finally grinding out Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on an innocent instrument.” *chuckling* I almost brought the soup up into my nose with a snort of laughter on that one. This was too cute, and very sensual. Making love from behind is just so raw and delicious. Post soon.
Thank you for another great update SammysGirl. I also love the Darth Vader reference & “2 hours and 7 minutes” (the clock is ticking, haha). I suggest that Lara should find time to cook some meals for H too. “The way to someone’s heart is through her stomach”? I too am impressed with the last part, just beautifully written. pps.
This update was fantastic. I love Bette and Tina. I look forward to the smack down that Tina will deliver to Nadia. I totally love Alice and Dana and the protectiveness that Alice is showing. I am a bit worried about Helena and Lara, but hope to see them figure out how truly important they are to one another. And our Shane, I hope she gets her ass back to therapy and stops punishing herself. Hopefully Beth can help her see the good in life.
You are so good at keeping compelling storylines going for all of the characters. Kudos.

So excited to see a new chapter so soon! Absolutely love how protective Alice is being of Pregnant!Dana (with both Howie and Shane). So sweet. Don’t mess with Alice’s woman. I’m still worried about Lara and Helena. I think they need to talk before the end up losing each other. Nadia == Bitch. Tina and Bette seem very strong right now. I don’t think the TA is going to get anything but a kick in the ass from Tina. I hope Shane gets her head out of her butt, gets back to therapy, and pursues things with Beth. She needs to quit punishing herself. Hot! Hot! Hot! Danish scene at the end. Glad to see that the pregnancy has not impacted Dana’s nightly groping. Probably not as glad as Al is, though.
