Midnight..

A semi-inebriated individual stumbled inside the door of her bedroom, blindly feeling the wall for the light switch. Not bothering to look for the correct one, she pressed all switches and bathed all corners of the dark room in warm, yellow light. Shrugging off her black coat, she threw the garment to the side and missed the rack by an inch. Hardly giving a damn, Sam acknowledged her poor aim with a grunt. She’d pick that up tomorrow. God, she was so beat – impromptu family gatherings always left her drained. The loud, seemingly endless conversations were always a struggle to follow, not to mention the fact that her huge Greek family loved big hearty meals that made her stomach drop down to her ankles in fullness. “Urp!” She burped loudly, filling her nose with the stench of onions and lamb kebobs. Shit.. that was disgusting.. but good. Leaving a trail of clothes in her wake like a snake shedding it’s skin, she was down to only her underwear when another loud burped sounded inside the space. The heiress froze by the side of her bed. Unless she could throw burps to the other side of the room like a ventriloquist, she was sure that sound didn’t come from her. Turning around, she finally noticed the body huddled in front of her well-stocked mini-bar, helping herself to her stash of diet Coke and junk food.

“Alice?!” Sam huffed, covering herself with the robe lying on her bed. “What the heck are you doing here?!”

“Oh hey Sammy, you’re back..” The blonde threw a quick glance at the brunette, her mouth overflowing with food. “Sorry, woke up with a bad case of the munchies. Your fridge was the nearest one to my room so..” She shrugged, washing down the contents of her mouth with Coke. “You don’t mind do you?”

“Of course not.” Sam sighed in both resignation and amusement, who was she to deprive sustenance to the hungry? Besides, it wasn’t unusual for her friends to raid her fridge at the middle of the night. “Help yourself.” She waved to the girl who was sitting cross-legged on the carpeted floor.

“Thanks!” Alice smiled brightly, stuffing her face some more.
