Joker’s Wild (An L Word Batman Begins Crossover) Chap 1. Dead Man’s Joke

Lara giggles as she flashes a smile and wraps her arms around the brunette who gladly returned the favor.

Lara: I’m going to hold you to that baby.

Dana and Lara begin to kiss passionately as they both get lost in the moment of happiness. They were so deep into the kiss that Dana didn’t even hear her cell phone going off until Lara interrupted the moment.

Lara(sighing): Baby…I’m going to hate myself for this…but I think that’s Commissioner Gordon.

The police officer lets out a groan and leans her head on Lara’s shoulder as she picks up her cell phone in defeat.

Dana (answering) : Fairbanks. Hey Jim…now?…Fine. No I got it. Yeah I’m coming right now. Ok I’ll see you in a few.

Dana sighed as she placed the phone back onto the clip that was attached to her belt. She stroked Lara’s hair and pouted.

Dana: That was the Commissioner. I got to run babe.

Lara placed one last kiss on Dana’s lips as she stroked her hair.

Lara: Remember to pick me up tonight ok sweetie?

Dana: Yes I remember. I’ll see you after I get off duty.

Lara (smiling) : I love you.

Dana returns the small kiss as she holds onto the chef’s hands.

    Dana: I love you too.

Reluctantly Dana finally parted from Lara as she made the long drive to her precinct station. The precinct was a huge hive of activity as she entered the station. Officers both uniform and non uniform were running around trying to answer questions from reporters and other random DA’s. She entered Commissioner Jim Gordon’s office only to see the elderly man talking away on the phone with a tried expression on his face.

Jim: Yes Mayor. I understand. I have my men working on the case as we speak sir…I will get something out to the public as soon as possible…I’m on it.

Jim hangs the phone up as he leans his head onto his desk and lets out a loud sigh. Dana closed the door behind her.

Dana: Well so much for confidentially.

Jim raises his head to see the young brunette lieutenant staring down at him with concern. At this point the took Dana’s sarcastic comments with a grain of salt. No matter how bothered he was by it.

Jim: The press is already having a field day with this. With Torres’s murder and rumors that we are harboring crooked cops, our department is taking heat Fairbanks. We have to tell the press something. I’ve city council members ringing non stop asking me about what the hell is going on. The mayor is breathing down my neck about keeping the press at bay. Our case is already suffering a huge blow. I should have listened to my father and become a fire man.

Dana smirked at the Commissioner’s joke and sat down on one of the chairs in front of the Commissioner’s desk.

Dana: My dad wanted me to be a doctor.

Jim laughed at Dana’s joke and shook his head. His smile slowly faded away to a more serious tone as the realization of the situation once again sank in.

Jim: Ok. We have a murder, and we even have some kind of sick “calling card” of sorts. And we know that Rupert Thorne hired this guy to take out Torres. Most likely he’s also going to go for the other witnesses as well. Not to mention Mr. Harvey Dent, the DA who actually has the guts to prosecute against Thorne.

Dana: But there’s no solid proof to tie this murder to Thorne. And we don’t have enough evidence to officially call it a “murder.”

Jim lets out an frustrated groan as he slumps in his plush leather chair.

Jim: That’s means we are back to square one.

Mysterious Voice: Oh it’s a murder alright.

Both Dana and Jim snapped their hears around towards the direction of the dark mysterious voice. The owner of the voice was standing by an open window near Jim’s office. His piercing eyes staring at the two police officers through the pointed ears mask he was wearing. He was cloaked in a black uniform and a matching cape draped over his shoulders. It was the dark knight him self.

    Dana (emotionless) :…you.

Batman: Believe me when I say this. You have no idea what you are up against.
