I’ve Got You Under My Skin – Chapter 7

    Previously . . .

Bette:  “Tina, there is no excuse for my behavior.  I feel absolutely terrible (starts to cry).  You are one of the last people I would ever want to hurt.  I know I am a flawed individual and have so many areas of my life that I need to work on.  But . . . you bring out a different side of me.  I know we just met, but you make me want to be a better person.  Please, can you forgive me?  Will you give me a second chance to prove myself to you and just how special you are to me?  I think we could have something special.  Don’t throw that chance away.”

Tina:  “Like forget that this never happened?”

Bette:  (starting to feel some hope) “Yes, exactly.”

Tina:  “***** you.  You know what?  You might be able to forget this ever happened, but I won’t be able to. Your words cut right to my heart.  I can forgive your awful behavior, but I will never forget it.  What’s done, is done.  What’s been said, has been said.  You can’t take those things back.  You need to realize that your words and actions have permanent effects.  You are a heartless ***** and have no regard for people’s feelings.”

Bette:  “How can you say that?  You don’t even know me?”

Tina:  “Boy, isn’t that the truth?  And to think I was coming over here to try and find some comfort.”

Bette:  “Did you hear about Vanessa?”

Tina:  “Yes, why would you even care?”

Bette:  “Tina, I do.  I truly do.  I care about it and I care about you.  I am a total and complete *****.  I know.  I know I am a total ***** up.  But, since I met you last night, I have been genuine.  Nothing that I have said or done has been a lie.”

Tina:  “Well, the farm girl comments carry a little too much weight to believe that.”

Bette:  (starting to feel defeat)  “There’s really nothing I can do or say that is going to change your mind, is there?”

Tina:  “Congratulations Sherlock!  You finally figured it out!”

Bette (sobbing):  “Tina, it breaks my heart to see you so upset.  I am sorry I hurt you.  I am sorry for my behavior, whether it would have been you or anyone else.  I am sorry that your friend Vanessa has cancer and that her family is hurting right now.  I am sorry that you are hurting with them.  More than anything, I am sorry that I am not able to bring you any comfort, because obviously you came over here tonight for that very reason.  (stopping because she is all choked up)  I am just sorry that we will never get a chance to see what might have been.”

    2. Oh, I just caught up with this story and I’m loving it. I’m glad the fight between Bette and Tina was REAL and that Tina didn’t just give into Bette. Because what Bette said and did was truly hurtful. Tina had every right to be really upset. Ohhh, it’s going to be a long week for both of them—AND US!!!

    3. YES,sometimes you just have to keep pushing and trying. I would have done the same thing Bette did when she opened the car door. What a way to end the evening, sleeping under the stars in a double lounge chair together. I’m gonna go with the others and figure Bette and Tina are going to the same place. Keep up the good work.

    7. i loved this post, i think it’s only tina that brings the sweet and loving side of one miss porter, i think is kind of cute that these 2 could forget their argument and just want 2 be in each others arms.

    8. Thankfully Tina couldn’t find her keys. I’m glad they talked and got everything cleared. Also happy to see the restraint from Bette.
