I’ve Got You Under My Skin – Chapter 5

At that moment Tina felt so secure and safe in Bette’s arms. While Bette wanted to do
nothing more than to connect her lips to Tina’s. Bette held her restraint . . .
Bette: “Are you okay?”
Tina: “Yeah, thanks for catching me.”
Bette: “I think I need to help you get to your door. I don’t think you are safe on your own.”
Tina: “I’m fine . . . really.”
Bette: “I’ll be fine knowing that all of you made it in safely. I will not take no as an answer.”
As they walked over to Tina’s condo, Bette started to get butterflies in her stomach. She
really enjoyed the evening with Tina and didn’t want it to end. So she worked up enough
courage to ask . . .
Bette: “Ah, Tina, one of my friends is having an art show at their gallery on Wednesday
evening and well, I was wondering if you would like to join me?”
Tina: “Oh, yeah . . . that would be great.”
Bette: “You would?”
Tina: “yeah, what type of show is it?”
Bette: “Ah, it’s a showcase of black and white photos taken by high school students. Every year my friend works with West Hollywood High to give a venue to show these kids work. It’s actually quite amazing some of the work these kids produce.”
Tina: “Oh, that sounds wonderful.”
Bette: “I don’t know all of the specifics off hand, but I have the invitation on my desk at
work. I could call you tomorrow with the information.”
Tina: “Yeah, let me know. This would help give me some ideas for some of the projects I
want to do through CSJ.”
Bette: “There’s actually a whole web site that describes this project, as well as a
spotlight on each artist. If you have e-mail I could send you the link.”
As they have been talking they approach Tina’s door.
Tina: “You want to come in for a second? I will give you my number and e-mail address.”
Bette: “Okay, great.”
Tina: (Tina opens her front door, fumbles for a light and goes over to her kitchen counter
for a paper and a pen) “Sorry the place isn’t all together yet. I am still unpacking a little at a time.”
Bette: “No, it looks fine. This is a really nice place that you have here.”
Tina: “Yeah, I really like it here. I am liking it more and more all the time.”
Tina turns to write down her e-mail address.
Tina: “I would give you my cell phone number, but I still have a Vancouver number. Ineed
to go get a new number tomorrow on my lunch. You could always call me at CSJ, however, I don’t have the number memorized yet. So I will give you my home phone number.”
Tina hands the piece of paper to Bette.
Tina: “Can you read it okay? I can’t even see what I am writing.”
Bette: “No, it’s fine. So it’s TeeKay71@csj.org?”
Tina: “Yeah, it’s my initials. T for Tina and K for Kennard. My family and friends use to call me ‘TK’ or ‘Tee’ for short.”
Bette: “Great, I will send you the link to the web site and I will give you a call tomorrow with more information.”
Tina: “Thanks for having us all over tonight. I had a really good time.”
Bette: “Well, it’s nice to finally meet you face to face.”
Tina: “Yeah, I am looking forward to actually getting to see you the next time we meet.
Thanks again for asking me to the show on Wednesday. It sounds really nice.”
Bette: “Well . . . goodnight.”
Tina: “Goodnight.”

I’ve just done the Eveyln Wood speed reading course catching up with this story. Love it, its so cute and refreshing. You’ve got the two bozos (Alice/Dana) down, and our two girls, hook up coming. I’m with the others, kinda was waiting for them both to realize they had bumped into each other before. Totally looking forward to your next update.

Well that’s good, they got to know each other before jumping to a quick judgement, because of their little accident. Lucky for Bette, that’s for sure. It figures Bette didn’t recognize Tina from their morning run-in. Hope this smoothes things over some, before Tina realizes who Bette is. Great post. More, please.

I really like your story and was excited to see your post tonight (I was just about to log off). I thought their first meeting would happen entirely different and wondered how they would ever get past their disgust for each other to like each other. So, this is an interesting turn although it is hard to believe that Bette did not recognize the farm girl’s voice, but that is infatuation (or love) for you.
Anyway, remember to keep having fun with your writing and we will continue to have fun reading it!
I like that Tina couldn’t see too well and got to know Bette’s heart a little. It’ll probably be a big shock for her when she sees Bette on Wednesday, huh? Hee, hee.

this was too funny. wait until Tina actually puts her contacts in and actually sees Bette….
i think bette was more angry than anything to really see who she was yelling at. to her it could have been anyone, something like blind rage. tina would more remember what she looked like. and remember when bette saw kit after she said that she should not have yelled at the woman and that she was already angry.

Tina is blind as a fucking bat…this is too funny. This is the first story that I have read in which she cant see. I just look forward to when she finds out the her Monday morning bitch was Bette.

i never expected this that tina would not see bette. i know bette would not recognize her because she was so mad she probably could not see straight. cannot wait for tina to see bette. sh*t is goint to hit the fan. lol

I really like your story. The fact that Tina can’t see a thing without her contacts or glasses is sooo funny. I’m glad she got to know Bette alittle without seeing her…maybe once she “sees” her she won’t be too quick to judge her outburst. Can’t wait for the next chapter.
