I Will Follow You Into The Dark – Chapter Twenty-Four

I guess. Gotta go, Dana here

    Have fun!

    Sure will

I logged out as well. Just at that very moment, the doorbell rang. For a second, it occurred to me that it could be Bette, but I immediately got rid of the thought. That was ridicolous. She was such a chicken, she’d never have the guts.

    Bette Porter narration

I was nervous as hell. I heard footsteps coming closer and I felt like I was gonna pee my pants. I was excited to see her and terrified at the same time, it was a real tug-of-war between feelings. I wondered if she would have changed.

The door opened and my heart missed a beat. It was Tina and she looked just… marvellous. Her hair was longer now and it was wavy. She was wearing a white tank top and thight jeans. She had the slightest hint of make-up on, she had only used her eyeliner a bit. She was just… wonderful.

My mouth was dry and I swallowed. I looked up into her beautiful hazel eyes. She was dumbstruck as well. I couldn’t manage to say a word and nor did she. There was an undeniable tension between us and it would take a chainsaw to break it.

She recovered first and said: “Hi.”

    “Hey.”

An awkward silence fell again, I didn’t know what to say. I knew a million things to say, but none of them seemed right. I love you. I need you and I want you and I can’t live without you. You are the love of my life. I am a total jackass and I don’t deserve you but if I’m not with you I’ll die. I know that I don’t have any right to expect you to forgive me, but I hope it with all my heart. Hold me, Tina. Please take me back.

“How are you?” What. The. Fuck.

    “Fine. Great, actually. You?”

Horrible. Hating myself for what I’ve done to you, hating myself for being the naïve kid I was. Hating myself because I left you. You are my life and I don’t know what to do without you, and still I ran away. I am so fucking sorry.

    “I guess I’m okay.”

At that very moment, something strange happened. As if it was directed, we both just took a step closer and hugged each other so thightly. It felt so good to have her in my arms. It made me cry and the tears were streaming down my face.

“I’ve missed you so much,” I sobbed. “I’m so sorry.”

She didn’t say anything. Her body was shaking as well, but it was so soft. It felt so good. She smelled so good.

Our mouths found each other. We softly kissed each other. It was a slow, passionate kiss. Suddenly, she pulled back. She had tears in her eyes as well.

“I can’t do this, Bette. You have to go.”

She slammed the door shut in front of me and I collapsed on her doorstep.

    _ _

    Tina Kennard narration

I gasped for breath and leant against the door. How could she have this effect on me? She looked tired and horribly skinny, but still there was something about her.

I needed to be strong. I needed to think of Helena. She would be devastated. I couldn’t leave her, not for Bette Porter. Neither of them deserved that. Helena had taken care of me so well and Bette had just left me, only thinking about herself.

Bette had done something unforgivable, everyone would agree with me on that. I couldn’t allow myself to fall for her again. It seemed inevitable. I pulled myself together and walked to the kitchen, making myself a sandwich.

My life wasn’t supposed to be turned upside down by her. She wasn’t a part of it anymore. She wasn’t a part of me anymore. I just had to go on, like she wasn’t there.

    1. Let’s hope Tina comes to her senses and at least hears Bette’s story. Bette is going to have some serious consequences for walking away as she did. I hope she doesn’t give up on Tina so easily.

    2. You can’t imagine how happy I am to see them back in each other lives, it’s hard on both of them, God how can they do this, it’s going to be very hard to see each other and not to be with each other. You did great with this one dear, the previous chapters were a little depressing but it’s all going to be good now she is beck, but I hope they can find a way to fix what’s broken. Love
