Alice sat beside the tub while Helena soaked.
“H?” She asked softly.
Helena smirked and splashed Alice with sudsy water. “That’s what Winnie calls me. How strange that you should start now.”
“Oh, sorry. Well, Hell isn’t exactly a good nickname for you. So we’ll stick with your long version. Anyway, I just wanted to say…we’re going to get you on your feet, ok?” Alice felt guilty suddenly. She knew it wasn’t the best motivation for giving someone a pep talk, but she couldn’t help but stammer ahead.
“No need…Alice, sweetheart…” Helena interrupted her rambling. “I’m not really in the mood, ok?” Helena fell further into the warm water, staring ahead of her. “But thank you.” She added without enthusiasm. She needed money. She needed independence. She needed to find some fucking thing that she could be good at, and enjoy, and find some purpose in. She had no purpose. What on earth was she here for?
“Helena…you should say some of those thoughts out loud. You know, the ones that are making you look completely miserable and empty and angry…Talk to me, I’m your best friend.” Alice had a brief urge to climb into the tub with Helena, fully clothed, and just shake her, to jar her from her funk somehow.
“Soon. Ok? Let’s talk about it soon.” Helena promised. “Anyway…” she sighed, wanting to reveal the reason for her early release. But it was just too boring. So she sunk farther in the water and kept her peace.
Alice gathered some of Helena’s clothes and lay them out on the bed for when she was ready.
They arrived at the Planet before anyone else, which lightened the mood between them. Alice brought Helena her favorite lime and tonic drink.
“Oh darling, thank you, really…I’m sorry about my moodiness…”
“Don’t be. Ok, it’s all right. Just glad you’re feeling a bit better.” Alice patted her friend on the knee, scooting closer. They sat happily side by side, sipping their drinks and people watching.
Bette was the first to arrive.
Of everyone in their group, she was the only person who had not visited Helena in jail.

Bette, for shame, not even visiting. Tut-tut. I’m very glad Winnie came with the kids. Hmm, wonder what B or T, any of them really, can do to cheer Hels up? Aside from giving her a really well-paid job? Maybe she can be Jenny’s P.A., that’s sure to be good for a rollicking good time. Or not. Anyhow, very good, hb, as ever. More soon, please. Ta!

Perhaps there’s a compelling reason for Bette not visiting? If not, I’m a bit disappointed in her too. I can’t wait to see how the gang (not to mention the threeway) snaps Helena out of her funk.

If Alice is that heavy maybe she’s the one that needs to be working out. So Bette didn’t visit. Some simmering internal conflict regarding Helena? Or is she remembering her talk-sex with Candace while they were cellmates? Did you even ask Debbie if she was available?
Hmn, I’m strangely secretly happy that Jodi isn’t around too, I always get the feeling she cramps Porters style, anyway, ‘nother great chapter babe, I oddly enough like this wounded Helena, she’s pretty real and believable, can’t wait for the next one, write write write, :-D
I agree with Sofa, Helena was really believable, I would love to see that on the show… It was great!!! PPS
