“I’ll bring the kids back when you get yourself settled back in with your friends, all right?” The older woman fell into the role that had always felt the easiest with Helena. Helena, ever the wayward and rebellious one, nodded and shrugged. She resolved to apologize, one of these days, to Winnie. She really had been a shit during their marriage.
“Sure, sure. Thank you though. For this, I mean.” One night with her kids was what she needed to face the world again. Now, it was time for Helena to see the rest of her family.
That afternoon, Helena walked sedately into the planet. Shane was the first to spot her, and leapt up from the table where she and Jenny sat, waiting for Alice to finish work and for Bette to arrive with Jodi. Tina was off talking to Kit, but they soon rushed over.
“Helena!” Shane shouted, flying at her.
“Ooof.” Helena’s smile was forced, but she was happy to see her friends. She hugged Shane back as fiercely as she dared, and patted Jenny’s shoulder in a friendly way.
“Helena, girl! We’ve been worried about you.” Kit came up behind her, placing a cup of tea on the table before embracing the Brit. “Alice called the lawyers, and the court house. Where did you go last night?” Kit rubbed her back briskly and spoke softly.
“Just wanted to see the children.” Helena replied. She put on her brightest smile and looked around at the gang. “all is well. Really, I’m out now. Ha!” but her smile fell away almost immediately and so they led her to the table to sit and talk.
“It must have been awful.” Jenny said. “I’m sorry you went through that. Fucking shitheads.” Shane nodded and smiled. At least Jenny was honest. “Fucking Catherine.” Jenny added. “someone should…should…”
“Throw her ass in jail…we’re working on it.” Tina had come up behind Helena. She reached forward, caring little for protocol with the woman she had been only cautiously affectionate with since their breakup, and she wrapped her arms around Helena’s shoulders.
Helena reacted with surprise, but accepted the awkward hug. “Not jail…” She mumbled. Tina seemed warmer than she had in a long time. Helena still couldn’t crack a real smile though. This didn’t happen until Alice came tearing through the Planet.

Bette, for shame, not even visiting. Tut-tut. I’m very glad Winnie came with the kids. Hmm, wonder what B or T, any of them really, can do to cheer Hels up? Aside from giving her a really well-paid job? Maybe she can be Jenny’s P.A., that’s sure to be good for a rollicking good time. Or not. Anyhow, very good, hb, as ever. More soon, please. Ta!

Perhaps there’s a compelling reason for Bette not visiting? If not, I’m a bit disappointed in her too. I can’t wait to see how the gang (not to mention the threeway) snaps Helena out of her funk.

If Alice is that heavy maybe she’s the one that needs to be working out. So Bette didn’t visit. Some simmering internal conflict regarding Helena? Or is she remembering her talk-sex with Candace while they were cellmates? Did you even ask Debbie if she was available?
Hmn, I’m strangely secretly happy that Jodi isn’t around too, I always get the feeling she cramps Porters style, anyway, ‘nother great chapter babe, I oddly enough like this wounded Helena, she’s pretty real and believable, can’t wait for the next one, write write write, :-D
I agree with Sofa, Helena was really believable, I would love to see that on the show… It was great!!! PPS
