“Hey B” Tina smiled
“Hi T, just called to say I miss you”
“What’s wrong Bette?”
“Nothing It’s just days like this I wish I was with you”
“I take it the office hunting didn’t go too well”
“No, it sucked” Bette pouted
“Are you pouting?”
“A little” Bette teased
“God, Bette you know what that does to me?”
“In that case I’m pouting A LOT”
Tina laughed
“What time are you going to be off T?”
“Not until late…I’m sorry I know you wanted to meet for dinner but I’m swamped I have a late meeting with the production team, and by the looks of my notes it’s going to be a long meeting”
“But T, we haven’t spent anytime together for the last three days, I miss you”
“I miss you” Tina replied
“I have to go, Helena’s here for our meeting”
“Ugh Helena” Bette said
“Stop it, I’ll call you later ok?”
“Bye”
Tina had called a little after nine pm she sounded so tired Bette felt guilty for feeling disappointed she knew Tina had been working 60 hour work weeks trying to get the studio off the ground Bette, was just resentful she couldn’t spend more time with Tina.
Bette looked at the clock it was pass midnight and she still couldn’t will herself to sleep.
She wanted, no needed to see Tina she wondered if she should head over to Tina’s house, she just needed to hold her to be with her.
“Fuck it, either Tina will be happy to see me or she’ll throw me out on my ass”
Bette put on some yoga pants and threw a sweatshirt over her tank top grabbed her keys bag and trainers and headed out the door.
She arrived at Tina’s as she parked her car behind Tina’s shinny new Porsche.
She made her way to the front door.
“Ok here goes nothing”
Bette dialed Tina’s cell phone.
‘Pick up, pick up, pick up’ Bette mumbled to herself
“Hello” A very groggy Tina answered
“T”
“Bette??” Tina muttered

Fantastic chapter. While Bette was having second thoughts about leaving her job at the DA’s office, I’m sure Melvin was somewhere licking his chops having thwarted her efforts to secure an office building for gallery and other interests. His parting shot when he left her a couple chapters ago was “good luck.” As though he knew what was going to happen to her. I hope she can find someplace very soon and tell him to have someone else followed and to “F” off. Hopefully my sense of dread is very misplaced but I don’t think so. Melvin is a stubborn and vengeful ass and he wouldn’t think twice about hurting Bette if he got to do what he wants and that is to seek office. Hope I’m wrong about all this. Thanks for a fantastic chapter.
