    Great Unexpectations Chapter 22

    Previously…

They made their way to the door as Richard turned to attend to Faye. Before exiting they looked back and watched as he lifted her legs onto the sofa and lay her head on a soft pillow. He opened the hall closet and retrieved a light blanket, quickly floating it down over her still, prone body.

Ten minutes later, Bette and Tina were driving back to the studio. In silence. Minds cluttered with screaming thoughts, questions, images of the terror that Faye and Cora had lived through. Too much to take in. Entering the lot, Tina stopped near Bette’s car to let her out. Before she opened her door, Bette leaned over to kiss Tina. "T. Follow me home. Right now. I’m not going back to work. I just want to go home and be with you and Angie. Can you do that?"

"Absolutely", Tina said, near tears. "I’ll be right behind you. I love you, babe."

Tina followed Bette’s car out of the lot. Just as they were leaving they were passed by a florist’s van coming to make yet another delivery. They didn’t even notice it.

    Chapter 22.

Tina trailed Bette’s car as they made their way home. She watched as Bette put her cell phone to her ear. Tina waited anxiously for her own phone to begin ringing. Hearing nothing she became slightly disappointed when she could make out that Bette was talking. The conversation didn’t last long. Tina’s phone soon thereafter began to chirp. Tina smiled, not needing to look at the caller ID. "Hi babe."

"Hey sweetie. I just called James to let him know I’m taking the rest of the day off."

"That’s good. I guess I should call work too", she said. They soon found themselves keeping company with a moment of contemplative silence. Tina was the first to break it. "Bette."

"I know Tina", Bette sighed. "Let’s not talk about it yet though. I just want to be with you and Angie. Ok? Just good things."

Tina nodded. "Ok. Me too. I’ll see you at home. I love you, Bette. So much."

"Love you more, Tina", Bette said. She ended the call and held up her right hand, waving behind her. Tina smiled and returned the wave.

    1. You made my night with this post! I love this story. Mr. Buckley….hmmm…what ya got cookin’ there redhorse? Faye is in pretty bad shape & as much as I was happy that Tina gave her the “smack down” at the Planet, you now have me feeling sorry for her. Oh, you read that correctly…It’s your fault that I actually have **dare i say it?***”Compassion” for Faye! I guess that’s the best compliment I can give you, Red. Your writing is so good, that I want Bette and Tina to help Faye find Cora. **which I know is exactly what you wanted, right?** Ciao.

    2. Seems the masses concur that this post was fabulous – who am I to disagree? LOL. I knew you still had some cleverity up your sleeve, Mr. Buckley, indeed! So a victory on the boards and on the baseball field, seems like lady luck is smiling on you Red! PPmoreS

    3. God, I love these two. What a perfect ending to an rather depressing and sad day. They will help cos thats just who they are, bit worried about Mr. Buckley.

    4. This story gets more intriquing with each chapter. Mr Buckley, the evil and horrible excuse of a man needs to have his gonads cut off and hung up to be viewed by all. On the other hand Bette and Tina have such a closeness even after all that they have been through.

    5. That was really quite heart-warming, lovely really. I wonder what they’ll decide about Faye and Cora, cos I worry about that “Mr Buckley”… quite a bit, actually. Just in case I haven’t mentioned it, I love this story, red. Thanks for the chapter.

    6. And here’s how well your writing sticks, red: I was just in the shop and went through the aisle with all the alcohol in, passed the shelf full of Jose Cuervo and immediately thought of Faye Buckley singing, which made me laugh out loud. Of course I got looks, it being a weekday before lunch and standing tittering to myself in front of the tequila, but ah well. Yeah, good times. Again, thanks!

    7. What a beautiful family, and what a perfect interlude before Mr. Buckley enters the picture. If she wants their help, Faye needs to tell Bette and Tina the full truth about her ex.
