Alice pulled up outside the hotel but there was no sign of Dana. She asked the bellboy if she could leave the car there a minute and pop in to find her friend. As she went into the reception she looked around and her heart plummeted as she saw Dana talking to that woman from last night. It was over, her chance gone. She hung back until the woman had left, walking off with a shit eating grin she saw. Who could blame her though?

When the woman had left she made her way over in Danas` direction, surely she wasn’t having breakfast? Dana came out with an apple and banana. She looked at Alice and smiled the warmest smile.

Dana – “Morning Alice!”

Alice – “Morning. How are you feeling today?”

Dana – “Oh, I feel really bad. My head hurts sooo much!”

Alice – “No wonder with all that you drank.”

Dana – “Yeah, I know. I don’t usually get that bad but I guess I wanted to let my hair down.”

Alice – “Well you sure did that!”

Dana – “Hmm!”

Alice – “Did you have a good night?”

Dana – “Yeah, well from what I remember!”

Alice snapped – “She couldn’t have been that good then?” The words were out of her mouth before she could think.

Dana – “What?”

Alice replied with bitterness in her voice – “Whatever her name is?”

Dana looked at Alice with a puzzled look. Alice could see the dawning realisation about what she had meant by that comment. Danas` eyes went wide, her mouth dropped and she started to shake her head. Alice turned and started to walk towards the door. Dana grabbed her arm and gently swung her round. Alices` heart started to thump at her touch, why could she not just get over her.

Dana – “Oh no, God no. She just turned up in the lobby when I came down for breakfast! She didn’t stop the night or anything!”

Alice was relieved at this, but still said, “Well it really is not my business anyway.”

Dana looked Alice in the eye and smiled. “But I want you to know nothing happened with her, honest!”
