Alice had picked up Tina at her apartment. On the way to the club they discussed the latest that Alice had heard, or not heard, from Tasha.
“We really should have worked out some sort of a code.”
“Ways to trick anyone who might be monitoring?”
“Ways to trade hot mushy notes without drawing suspicion.”
“Well, Al,” Tina started, emphasizing the name. “There are always things that you can do now, Al.”
“Like what, Tina?”
“Like, think about it.” Tina knew now that her friend was not quite understanding. “If you weren’t Alice, if you were Alphonse. Albert. Alistair.”
“Would that work?”
“Do you ever talk to Tasha on the phone?”
“Rarely?”
“You might ask if it were okay if the ‘boyfriend’ were to write.”
“That might work.”
“Make sure Tasha’s okay with it,” Tina repeated, hoping Al got the message. Sometimes she wasn’t how much her friend was really paying attention to Tasha’s issues about being closeted in the military.
The club was, as usual, packed. She and Al found their way to a table, working through a sea of women of all shapes, sizes, and colors. “Who all’s coming?” Tina yelled over the noise.
“Helena. Shane. And, uh, whatshername.”
“Whatshername?”
“Porter. Remember her?”
Tina gave Alice a playful cuff on the shoulder.
“Ow.” Alice made it look like Tina had really hit her hard, with all of her play-acting in response.
“Tina’s butch side emerges,” Helena said with a laugh, joining her friends at the table. She gave her one-time girlfriend a kiss on the cheek. “You hide it far too well.”
Bette had walked in simultaneously, and frowned at the British woman’s show of familiarity with Tina.
By now Helena was greeting Alice with a hug, so Bette could feel some comfort that at least she wasn’t planning on monopolizing Tina’s attentions.
“Hey,” Tina said, noticing Bette’s less-showy entrance.
“Hi.” Bette leaned in, wanting to demonstrate, in no uncertain terms, that she had superior rights when it came to greeting Tina. She did so by placing a more-than-just-friends kiss on the blonde woman’s lips.
This reaction caused Tina to give Bette a questioning look, but Bette merely responded with a wink.

The control freak rears her curly mane yet again. Bette’s got issues, some of which are probably stemming from the fact that she really wants, and maybe at this point needs, to get some. If she keeps acting like that, though, it’s just never gonna happen. Love the story, pseud, thanks for the update.
Hey Pseud, Such a bright beginning ended in such darkness. Good to see that Tina was holding her own; firstly on the dance floor and then secondly in throwing Bette out. Sad that a minor incident undid all the progress they had made. I loved the idea of Bette claiming Tina on the dance floor and showing the wannabes just who her woman was. Then to spoil it all with some Alpha-stupidity. A cry shame! Hopefully this won;t sit well with Bette and she will force herself to face what she did. Attacking Tina over her babysitter was infantile. Pity to see this side of Bette is still unreigned and able to appear so instanteously. Tina needs to stand by her position and wait for Bette to admit her mistake and apologize about her behavior. I am hoping for a quick resolution so that the gals can get back together and enjoy each other once again. Please post more real soon. A real treasure on a misery Monday afternoon. You know I have to laugh when Bette acts like this, so very typical of the Heterosexual egotistical thoughtless MALE behavior they exhibit on a daily basis…That’s not Alpha that’s just plain stupid…go Bette and off to sulk in your corner, good for you Tina. Don’t take no shit from her or anyone!!
Both of these women are so random. Sometimes it makes me laugh, and times like these, it makes me go WTF.
So Ms. Porter, on average, how often would you say you have this compulsion to be a flaming asshole? God, doesn’t Bette ever take care of Angelica when she’s fussy? It’s not like the girl hurt the baby in any way. Ivy League book smart. Real life retard.
Wow, Bette needs a good grasp on reality. Babies cry, uncontrollably, especially when they are getting teeth. Is Bette really that stupid. She irrates me so sometimes. I’m glad Tina is standing up to her. How are these two ever going to get it together. Frankly, if they can’t work simple things like babysitters out, how are they suppose to live together and function without putting the fun in disfunctional as Angie grows up!
Ohh, man. It was so good until Bette had to freak out and question Tina’s parenting. I’ve nannied and never had any really bad experiences where the kid cried all night.. but it happens. Especially if you are new with the kid.. or they are sick. Bette needs to relax. She just shot herself in the foot after the whole night. She could have brought it up later and said she wasn’t comfortable with that sitter but she flew off the handle. I hope she grows up.. as soon as possible. PPS.
When with alpha Bette ever learn. She is not all knowing, and not always the superior one. Don’t get me wrong, you gotta love the woman, but sometimes. Tina did the right thing, Bette has to know that if they stand a chance, its all things equal, not all things Porter.
