Ghost of Christmas Past part 2

    Previously

“Really? Well, I guess if my life ended when I had actually been where life meant me to be and if my heart could leave this place without regrets, you’d be right. But they don’t let you fully move on until you’ve made peace with life as you knew it and Al, I haven’t made peace yet. I left without finishing things, I left before I could let you know what was real.”

Alice sat staring in front of her at the wall in her living room. As she sat looking at the soft paint on the wall, she saw Dana. Dana as she looked when Alice showed up at her condo at four am, grey sweats and a white tank top. Alice jumped off the couch, when she felt Dana’s arm over her shoulder.

“Al, it’s ok. I have tonight. I have tonight to make it all ok.”

“But, Dana, this can’t be real….you’re gone.”

“Yeah, but I’m right here. Yes, I’m gone. But I have tonight. Don’t freak out Al. I need you to believe this. The sooner you do, the more time we have before I need to go.”

Yes, Alice was scared. She was scared she has finally totally lost her mind and she was scared that she hasn’t and that Dana was really there with her. Though she was scared, she was ready for whatever adventure Dana had in store for her. For Almost ten years, she had given Dana her absolute trust, this wasn’t the time to renege on that.

Ghost of Christmas Past Chapter 2

“OK, Dane. Let me make sure I understand this before agreeing. You are actually dead. You are actually here in my apartment with me. I can actually see you and feel you. You have tonight to make peace. Do I have this all right?”

    “Yep, that’s about it.”

Alice’s worried look started to change into a smile, “Well, how can I turn down an offer like that? It isn’t everyday that you get to hang with a ghost.”

Dana looked at Alice, reading those eyes she had spent so much time staring into, “Thank you, Al. I know you’re scared, but you don’t need to be.”

“I’m not scared. It’s you. What could I be scared of?”
