    Fire and Ice Chapter 32

"Yeah.  I was.  I was upset.  We’d been together for two years…" Tina lightly ran her fingers through her hair, her expression turning stoic.  "It’s just…it wasn’t there anymore…and I can’t believe…out of all nights…of all places…" Tina trailed off, shaking her head in disbelief.

"Why did things get so out of hand last night?" Bette pondered aloud, unsure if the blonde would take offense to her obvious question.  Still, she needed to hear it.  She needed Tina to tell her.

"I don’t know…" Tina began, hesitant to divulge the true catalyst of her and Eric’s  separation.

Bette nodded, resolute to allow Tina her time to process.

"He said he ‘saw it’" Tina started suddenly, resigned to share her intimate conversation with Bette.

"Saw what?" Bette questioned, though she knew full well what Tina was talking about.  A blind man could see it.

"He saw us looking at each other…right after we left your office…" Tina reminded her, fully aware that Bette needed no reminding.

"Oh.  That." Bette smiled, tilting and nodding her head in homage to the moment.

Tina shook her head, trying to conceal her smile.

"And…" Bette was halfway being playful, trying to bring some levity to the situation.

"And…nothing…he flipped.  I flipped.  Then, just like that…it was over…" Tina looked down briefly, her gaze somber.

"I’m sorry Tina…I didn’t mean to…" Bette felt awful for trivializing the deep relationship she once shared with Eric.

"No.  Don’t be.  You had nothing to do with it…" Tina assured.  Upon seeing the brunette’s face drop a little, she quickly clarified.  "No.  What I mean was, it was over long before last night…I know that now…I’ve never felt the way I feel when I’m with you…" Tina lightly rubbed her hands back and forth.  "And I don’t know how to feel about that…"

"Let’s try to just take it slow…see what happens…I’m not asking anything from you Tina.  I would never want to make you feel like I was pressuring you, because that’s the last thing…" Bette felt ashamed that she had so forcefully taken Tina in the car, though Tina had been more than willing to receive her.

    "You’re not…" Tina stated genuinely.

"It was a big relationship for you…it’s absolutely normal to want some space after ending something like that…" Bette was averting her eyes from Tina, kicking herself for bringing up Eric in the first place.

"I don’t want space…I just…can we not talk about Eric anymore?" The blonde’s tone almost pleading.

Bette released a heavy sigh, her lips spreading into a relieved smile.  "Of course."

As if on cue, the waitress returned with their bourbon, requesting that they take their time with the menus.  Bette was thankful for the break in the tension.

Bette grasped her glass, adjusting her body to face Tina fully.  Tina mirrored her move as they held their glasses briefly in salutory fashion.

"To us…" Bette beemed, her eyes sincere.

Tina smiled widely, her own eyes sparkling with renewed excitement.  "To us…"

    1. When Eric caught Bette and Tina “just looking” at each other and he knew it, it reminded me of when Tina caught Bette and Candace just looking at each other and “just knew it”. Ooow, dreadful thought *shakes head and smacks self*. Another fabulous update Fire…I feel a sizzle coming on!

    2. I love that Bette took Tina somewhere so romantic. The flirting was beyond sexy now if they can forget what’s his name and just enjoy their date I will be thrilled. :)

    3. really nice to get up and see there’s another post. that’s a good way to start a busy day. how i wish it was tomorrow already and i could read the next post ^^ no, kidding. take your time. we definitely need to take things slow here ;)

    4. Yay, first date. Thanks for posting so quickly. Really enjoying this story and can hardly wait for the next chapter to see what happens after dinner. PPS

    5. “We now find ourselves smack dab in the middle of b & t’s first date. again, expect delays. these two need to take it slow, don’t you think? after all, rome wasn’t built in a day…” => LMAO! Sorry, firestarter, I just found your warning too funny. *snort* I’ve learned how to deal with the delays, the stops and starts in this slooow burn story. I’m glad they’re talking and processing the recent events and changes though. I wonder what the heat from the shot of bourbon will do to them? Thanks as always, firestarter, and pls post without delay if you can. :>

    6. Maybe these two shouldn’t drink at all when they are together…the heat between them is enough..thanks for the date…can’t wait for more

    7. Ok, so you’re preparing us for a date that will span the next 15-20 chapters, right??? LOL I agree they should take things slow. I’m loving the sexual tension, but also the obvious feelings they share for each other in such a short time period. Bring on the heat! PPS
