Just as Tina wanted to say something, Bette’s phone rang loudly, causing the both of them to jump.
“Hello?” Bette fumbled out of bed and picked it up. Tina threw on a jacket and combed her hand through her hair. Of course it was from Jorge. “Yes, we’ll be right down.” She gave Tina a look, letting her know who it was. “Yes, she’s with me. Actually can she stay in bed? I don’t think she feels too well.” Knowing it would be a long shot, she still gave it a try.
The other side paused, just for a couple of second. Jorge was clearly thinking about it, but then he refused. “No, everyone must come.” Then he hung up.
Bette changed into her suit in less than ten seconds and quickly arrived at the door, holding the blonde’s hand. “We need to get down there.” She tried to relax her shoulders and squeezed a weak smile. “It’s gonna be ok. I got you.” It was a comfort to herself. Bette repeated it in her head.
The lobby was already packed with Jorge’s people. The man himself was holding his arms in front of chest, and eyeing everybody. Jodi sat on the sofa, she too, was observing the gathering with keen eyes. She looked sane today, but god knows if she was going to flip out any given second.
When it seemed like all of the people had arrived, Jorge cleared his throat, just a little cough, but the room immediately quieted down. Most of the men looked among themselves, not knowing what was the emergency.
“Does any one of you know why the police can never get me?” He asked, his voice not too loud but with certain attitude that made him heard in front of all these men. “It’s because I play it safe. But now we have a rat in the house, making it a very unsafe game.”
There were some gasps and murmurs in the crowd. Bette didn’t say anything or make any eye contact with the rest of the people. She just squeezed Tina’s hand tighter in hers.
“During the last few months, some of our routes are getting tracked down by the coppers. I also noticed a small leak on the east town account. I had a good hunch about who it is, but until today, I got no evidence to exercise my judgment.” He looked behind him, where Tito was standing, and gave him a little nod. “That being said, now I have the evidence, and I can’t sit back watching the rat eat us empty from the inside. Bring ’em out.”

It’s been a long day worrying about our dear sweet Pie. She just messaged me, so she’s out of the woods and recovering. Wish her a very speedy recovery and come back to us soon.
I want to dedicate this chapter to Pie, although it is a little…violent, well, maybe next chapter then!
Also SO to the lovely ladies reading and commenting, and being so supportive and kind this entire day. Now we can all settle down and take a nice long breath haaaaaaaaa….
And for the covering pic, yeah, I always envision Jason Stantham as the gentlemanly villain of my story.
I hope you all like how I took care of Henry/Eric. He deserved what he got. So… one less thing to worry about.
Of course I left you with a teaser, coz I’m a terrible tease. And the playfulness returned to me as I knew my friend was ok.
