    Family Sunday

AJ had fallen asleep in Bette’s lap.

“Thanks for a great day,” Lexie said.

    Adam scooped up AJ.

“The car will be by at 11 to pick you up tomorrow,” Tina said.

“Thanks again, Tina. This was exactly what we needed.

“You are welcome. Let’s have dinner when I come back to Vancouver.”

    “Deal.”

    Bette stiffened.

    ***

Tina walked into the bedroom slowly. She was flooded with regret. She noticed Bette’s side of the bed was unmade and she smiled and shook her head.

    “Oh, Bette.”

Tina pulled up the sheet and smoothed out the comforter. She grabbed the pillow and Bette filled her nostrils. She hugged it tighter. She stayed that way for several heartbeats. With her eyes closed tightly. And her back to the door.

Bette watched Tina hugging the pillow. Tina felt her before she heard her.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to intrude. I was just looking for my keys…to my car,” Tina said as she turned around.

    “Shane has them?”

“Oh! Wh-why does Shane have them?”

“She’s been starting it up and driving it around the block every couple of weeks.”

    Bette shrugged.

“Oh. That was nice of her.”

Tina had a suspicion Shane was urged by Bette to do so.

Bette watched Tina put the pillow back where it belonged. Tina had done that same thing many times before. Always making sure everything was in place and beautiful. It was nice having Tina back in their bedroom.

Their, Bette echoed in her heart.

    “And it’s not an intrusion.”

    Tina nodded.

“I was wondering where you disappeared to.”

Bette looked at her. Tina realized Bette thought she had left without saying goodbye…again.

    “Did you think I left?”

    “I did.”

Bette folded her arms across her chest and leaned against the left side of the doorframe.

“I won’t do that to you anymore.”

    “You won’t?”

Tina shook her head no. Bette believed her.

Tina walked slowly towards Bette. Bette braced herself. Not sure what was about to happen. Tina stood in front of the brunette and leaned against the right side of the doorframe. Bette gulped. They both relished in the closeness.

Bette couldn’t think clearly with Tina so close. She breathed her in. They didn’t say anything for a while. They contemplated each other.

    1. Great chapter!

Bette and AJ and together with Tina, he is so smart and adorable! Very clever from him to let them join him in the pool.

Bette is ready to try to rebuild their relationship and Tina comes with that line, “Things that will most likely break your heart…some more.”. But they have to make a clean start and this is necessary to put everything out and then away to never come back.

I’m sad the end is coming but also looking forward to the next chapter.

      • Thank you so much! I’ll be tackling a GenQ storyline when I’m done with this one. This my first attempt at fanfic and it has been such a privilege writing this story. When it’s all done, I’ll go back and read it from start to finish to see what I could’ve done better.

Bette is ready to rebuild but she’s also nervous. She portrays alpha but we know she’s fragile. So I’m excited to see how Tina navigates her fragility and how Bette hopefully starts to forgive her. But I don’t know. We shall see.

Next chapter is going to be a doozy for sure!

AJ is my absolute favorite. I kinda wish I wrote him as an orphan or something. I love the way Bette and AJ interact.

        • You are a great writer, your writing style is really good, don’t think you have to change anything. I especially love how you write their inner thoughts. The story flows and keeps you wanting more.

I adore AJ, maybe you can add him in your new story. Bette doing something for a orphan house, they meet and Bette and him bond immediately and Bette wants to adopt him, giving him the warm and loving home he deserves. I am adopted and it would be so great to read something like that. But whatever you’re new story will be about, i will certainly read it!
