Sonny continued to play, joining Kit as she sang:
“It’s that time of year
When the world falls in love
Ev’ry song you hear seems to say
Merry Christmas
May your New Years dreams come true
And this song of mine”
Sonny leaned forward a little and turned his head so that he faced Kit as he sang
“In Kit Porter time”
earning a beaming smile and shoulder nudge from Kit
“Wishes you and yours
The same thing too.”
The two sat quietly for a few moments as Kit surveyed the establishment. “Things seem to be winding up,” she observed. “I should start getting back to business.”
“Not yet. We need something special to end this.” Sonny smiled at Kit as he stood and moved to the front of the piano.
“Friends, thank you all for joining in this neighborhood celebration. Hopefully, it is a tradition that will continue every year.” Sonny announced loudly, and after the first words had gained everyone’s attention.
“Many years ago, in the euphoria of new love, I was coaxed by a beautiful girl to join a group of people who stage a magnificent holiday show each year called the ‘Christmas Revels.’ It is a huge labor of love for those involved and the audience is filled with people who have attended for years and those who are new. It spreads feelings of generosity and good will in a way that is unlike anything else you have ever experienced. Well, our blossoming love did not survive past the third week of rehearsals, but I stayed with the troupe for that year and a few more. There…”
“I dated that same girl!” Alice announced as she race towards Sonny. “Well, maybe not the SAME girl, but one just like her.” Alice turned to Sonny. “Are you gonna do the song?”
“Yes.”
“This will be great. I’ll help.”
“OK, then.” Sonny turned his attention back to the larger audience. “There is a song that has an important role in every performance. It brings the cast and the audience together in a celebration of the evening they have spent together. I think it will do the same for all of us.”

That was just as amazing and beautiful like your other stories. I have so missed your talented writing on this site. Can this be a possible return to the forum. I have so missed the “the wolve” story- “Backstory”. I was hoping that this was a version of that, but I am just as happy with the one I got.
