Duped
Chapter 3
Bette strode to the top of the staircase wearing a gold lamé evening gown that adhered to her curves.
Meeting her at the top of the steps, the maître d’ proceeded to accompany Bette to Tina’s table in the casino’s lavish dining area.
Tina watched Bette sashay across the room, her arm clasping her tuxedoed escort. She marveled at the agent’s grace and poise.
Looking up at her with a smile, Tina extended her hand to offer Bette the seat across from her at the small, private dining table.
The maître d’ pulled out Bette’s chair, and with a flick of his wrist, elegantly unfolded the napkin in front of her and placed it graciously in her lap.
Bette peered up at him and mouthed a thank you.
Tina smiled at Bette and asked her what she would have to drink.
Peering at the champagne glass in front of Tina, Bette smiled back and said, “Whatever you’re having is fine.”
“Jean, give us a few moments before we order,” Tina nodded, dismissing him.
“Very good, mademoiselle,” Jean replied, excusing himself.
As she admired the emerald green gown which graced Tina’s fair-skinned body, Bette laced her fingers together in front of her and smiled. “You look radiant, Tina,” Bette offered. “Thank you for having dinner with me.”
“You look quite exquisite yourself,” Tina replied, trying not to blush. She reached into the ice bucket next to her and removed the champagne bottle, before pouring its effervescent contents into Bette’s flute. “I decided to forego the ostentatious Dom Perignon, and opted instead for some Tattinger. I hope it meets with your approval.”
Bette fingered the tall glass as Tina returned the bottle to chill. “I actually prefer it,” she said, taking a sip.
Tina watched Bette’s lips surround the crystal flute’s rim before tipping back a soupçon of the bubbly into her mouth.
Setting the glass back onto the table, Bette watched Tina’s gaze hovering over her mouth. She licked her lips for effect, and swiveled the glass on its stem.
“I’m sorry. Should I have waited for a toast from my dinner companion? You appeared to have already started without me,” Bette observed, looking at Tina’s half-full glass. “I’m really sorry I was late. I had to send a report to the office in France.”

yes i’m first, i really like this story pps
Thank you for the post…enjoying this story. pps
Thanks for the post and I can’t wait for more! PPS:)
Careful, Bette. Don’t scare Helena away. Alice is like a combination of Warner Brothers stock characters from the 30s. Equal parts their standard show girl and their standard gangster.
Nice one, again! (: Laughs. Helena Peabody. Hmmm. Ok. Sorry. Laughs. Another lovely effort by the both of you. So wonderfully written. ((: Can’t wait to see what more you both have in store for us! ((: PPS! (:
I really like this,Is Helena really the bad girl or is it Tina. Alice could really be a gangster Mol. she is crazy. thanks
I hope that Helena did not catch on to Bette’s line of questioning. Can’t wait for more getting to know you in the case of Bette and Tina.
ooooooooo la la!!! :)
Alice is enough to embarass anyone besides she is a fool. She was not funny in the least, the innuendo alone was enough for Helena to have walked off and left her standing there. She will be the one to blow their cover. pps
How intriguing! I like this spy factor. pps
Wonderful :). You are so right, I hardly drink champagne because I’m not fond of it at all…somehow the bubbles are making me somewhat uneasy, but if I do have to buy it I prefer a bottle of Tattinger over a Dom Perignon too, however nothing can beat a nicely chilled white Châteauneuf-du-pape for me lol. Your Alice had me in stitches Babycakes, Sweetiepuss hahaha I could so see her before me. Bette did get Helena uncomfortable, I wonder if this is the right approach…take it easy Bette or she will escape. The sexual tension between Bette and Tina is palpable…let’s see some action on the dancefloor mmmmm. Love this story very much already.
Nice update. I hope Bette can keep her mind on the job while she is having fun with Tina. PS
