    Bette and Tina back in the hotel room.

    Previously:

    The drive back to the hotel could have been the death knell for their passion. It could have been a twenty minute cooling off period where both parties stopped to consider what they were doing thinking about having ***** when the fundamental issues between them had yet to be addressed. It could have been a time when anxieties and fears from their despairing encounter two nights before welled up and overcame them.

    But it wasn’t.

    The air inside the speeding car was charged with sexual electricity and potential.

    Tina put her hand on the inside of Bette’s thigh.

    Bette depressed the accelerator.

    “You’re speeding,” Tina said softly.

    “Just keeping up with my pulse.”

    At the first red light they hit in the city Bette said, “Damn” as much for the delay as for the rising tide of anxiety that had just begun in her. “This is really going to happen,” she thought, as self doubt overtook her. ” *****.” Her mind began to go down a slippery slope of fear, then she felt Tina’s hand on her inner thigh again and her hot breath brushed against Bette’s ear.

    “Baby, go.”

    Bette looked at the light. It was green. Tina was sucking her earlobe. Pain was throbbing between her legs. She pressed on the gas.

    Driving – Chapter 29

    Bette and Tina entered the elevator. They were alone. Bette pushed the button for their floor and Tina caught her hand as it fell toward the floor. She pulled Bette’s arm around her and then wrapped her arm around Bette as the elevator began to ascend. With their chins almost touching and their eyes locked, Tina said,

    “Here and now. No expectations.”

    Bette smiled. It was just tonight. Leave the past in the past and the future for tomorrow. She felt her anxiety ebb and her desire flow. She kissed Tina deeply and passionately. The elevator stopped and they fell against the back wall. They laughed and flew together out of the car.

    Bette’s left hand was holding Tina’s and her right hand was trying to extricate the room key from her pocket. Tina was trying to find her key too and when they reached the door two keys jangled against their rings as Tina pushed Bette back against the door and dove into the hollow of her neck. Bette caught her breath. “We can go inside.”
