    “Hephaestus’ maintain our need for sovereign structure.  I have stood in this place for my lifetime always as a steward.”  Hera reached for a pouch that lay beside her plate.  She withdrew a heavy linked chain in a perfect circle. T’Pau, Sarek, Spock and the other high-ranking Vulcans in attendance grew very still.

     

     

    She handed it to Christina who accepted it without remembering its meaning.  Elizabeth rose instinctively and touched her back in support. The fire of their meld, which flared anytime they touched, caused the chain to snap and fall to the ground.

     

     

    A hush fell over the crowd.

     

     

    Christina bent to retrieve the chain but Hera stopped her. She scooped up the broken chain reverently.

     

     

    “Majesty, will you welcome us home?”  Hera looked at her in wonder.

     

     

    “Daughters and Sons of Vulcan, you are always welcome in your home.” Christina answered immediately. “ I do not accept the Crown of Rhemus so please refer to me as Commander Kennard.”  She corrected Hera in her use of the royal title before continuing her thoughts. “I cannot speak for the High Council of Vulcan.  You have put down your arms.  I can see no logical reason they would deny your request.” 

     

     

    The Hephaestus in the hall went crazy with joy.

     

     

     

    T’Pau tapped her ceremonial staff on the floor and the hall quickly became quiet.  

     

     

    “Hera steward of the Crown of Hephaestus, you desire to Crown and recognize your Queen?”  T’Pau asked formally. 

     

     

    Shivers went down Elizabeth’s spine.  Christina as she reached for her in their bond was unreadable.  She panicked for a moment fearing she lost her until she felt the warmth of her love and the words ‘I am here’ filtered silently through.

     

     

    “I do.” Hera replied instantly adopting a formal stance.  “Elders of Hephaestus attend me.”  Six female and six male Hephaestus separated themselves from their compatriots to flank Hera.

     

     

     

    T’Pau nodded. “Vulcan High Council come forward.”  T’Pau was then flanked by the twelve members of the Vulcan High Council.

     

     

    T’Pau then addressed the High Council.  “Do you accept the petition of Hephaestus to Crown their Queen according to Vulcan rite.”

     

     

    They all nodded.

     

     

    “It is affirmed” T’Pau declared. “Esteemed members of the Federation you are witnesses to a very special event for Vulcan this day.  Please bear with us as we prepare the Hall of Ceremonies.  We will reconvene there in one standard hour.”

     

     

    T’Pau leading the Vulcan Council and Hera leading the Hephaestus Elders silently left the dining hall in two side by side columns.

     

     

     

    A newly combined Vulcan, Hephaestus and Romulan Guard escorted Christina and Elizabeth from the hall.

    1. We began this story believing that Captain Elizabeth Kirk was the VIP aboard the Enterprise. Surprisingly, we find that Christina is to the manor born. Elizabeth didn’t know she was marrying a real queen. Thanks!

    3. This story is just awesome Kelika. What’s even more amazing is that you are writing it in the same style as the show was done. It sounds like it could have been lifted right off a script page. Anxiously awaiting your next update.

    10. All this talk of queens reminds me of my years in NYC. I not only saw lots of queens, I also lived in Queens for 7 years. I knew that Rachael would be trouble. What are they going to do to that troublemaker? And what will it take for Christina to accept the crown of Rhemus?

    14. Every time I see that you have posted, i really react with “OOOh, a new chapter.” I am always so excited to see where you are taking us this time. And every time, at some point in my reading, I remember that Christina has pointy ears and giggle. You know, you can extend this indefinitely, like the show did. A hunt for Bette’s mother?
