Rau led Rhaina back to the path so they could approach the gathering from the trail. She took her cloak back and flipped it from the camouflage to the dress side. She stowed the field glasses and auxiliary earpiece. Her regulation communicator was visible on her weapons belt.
“Allow me to arrange for back up Majesty.”
“Discreet back up Commander, I would not cede the Crown just yet.” Rhaina replied dryly.
“Of course Majesty” Rau smiled her respect for the woman continued to grow. She flipped open her communicator “Rau to Ferrier”.
“Ferrier here Commander.”
“Queen Rhaina and I are inviting ourselves to a party of fifteen dissidents gathered at the Lake Cabin. Arrange invisible support.”
“Understood Commander, immediately.”
Majesty?” Rau extended her arm solemnly which Rhaina took; Rhaina’s laughter rang in the air.
A sentry posted watched with wide eyes as the Sovereign of Rhemus approached with the Commander of the Royal Guard.
“Hail the Queen of Rhemus” He called loudly snapping to attention and kneeling as the Queen passed.
A hush came over the gathering.
“All Hail the Queen of Rhemus” Rau commanded in a voice of steel.
“Hail to the Queen” the assembled officers voices paid their respect automatically kneeling before her. Only Terrance and Rachael remained upright.
Rau fixed them both with a pointed glare and slowly they too sank to their knees.
“Rise.” Rhaina commanded. “Be at your ease.” All the officers remained standing as their Sovereign stood.
“I assume my invitation and that of my sister was misplaced, or was this party on the land of my ancestors at the cabin my fore bearers built for quiet family gatherings disrespected?” Rhaina fixed her gaze on Rachael. “There is only one of your company that is of royal blood.”
“I took the liberty, Majesty of hosting a party for officers who have been of particular service to me over the years.” Rachael answered promptly. It would not serve her to disrespect her Aunt in this venue or to fail to protect the gathered officers. “Please join us.”
Rhaina nodded and walked to the opposite end of the table and officers there hurriedly prepared a place for her and the Commander. There was silent note taken that Queen Rhaina placed herself as far away from her niece as possible.

OMG….I think I’m on a high….another update…Thank you Kelika! So, Rau is definetly in the running. Loved the way Rhaina won the officers over to her one by one. I’m delighted to hear you are trying to get into a daily rhythm for posting. If you do, I’ll be into a daily rhythm for reading.

Kelika, I am so amazed by your story. Everytime I watch Star Trek, your story comes to mind.. I could not but help but watch Kirk and Spock in a different light (lol).. thanks for a wonderful update.
Why, yes, Kelika, I WAS reading your mind. And because I have honor, I shall reveal no more. Hmmm-ummm! I swear, that Rachael is going to be trouble. That’s all the prognosticating I’ll do tonight.
Well done as long as Rau is at her side the Queen will be served well. When duty calls Spock she will need a strong person at her side. PPS
Rhiana rocks! Loved her poise and eloquence. How can Rau resist her? I wonder if we will be privy to the remainder of their walk? Hmmm, now that could be a juicy tidbit for tomorrow. Rachel needs to be taken to task by her mother – I hope Rhiana speaks with her sister…
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an entire episode of Star Trek and I know I’ve never seen any of the movies…but I really love this story! You write it so well. Thanks.

Queen Rhaina knows how to lead. She voiced her concerns and the officers made their decisions by choice. Sounds like a new couple may have started.

Hi Kelika, Loved that Rhiana stood up for her position and showed the dissenters way she is who she is. Her nobility shone through her words and acted as a call to arms. Love to see that Rau can both make Rhaina feel safe and protected, and at the same time isn’t afraid to show her emotions when her eyes filled with tears. Love Tina’s mamma!!!
