Bette heard Kate and was instantly on alert.

“How you feeling?” Tina asked

Kate stopped at the door and watched Tina’s face as it lit up at the sight of Bette’s face. The sight of Tina so happy made Kate happy.

“I should really be going”

“Bette please stay”

“I don’t want to disrupt your…your…”

“Baby your not disrupting anything.”

“Tina can I talk to you for a second? Kate asked

“Just a sec”

“Bette honey I would really like for you to stay, I’ll be right back”

“What Kate” Tina asked a bit agitated by the interruption.

“Does she know… have you told her that you are single?”

“No we haven’t talked about it, but she has to know.”

“She doesn’t”

“Kate she has to”

“I’m telling you she thinks we are together. Let’s go in there just introduce me and you’ll see.”

“Your crazy…but Ok… I want to introduce you anyway.” With that they walk back into the living room to where Bette was laying down.

“Hey Bette I want to introduce you to someone…. Bette this is Kate… my Best Friend and co-worker, we split our time between here and the office at the studio to help with child care costs.” Bette’s face lit up at the news, and Kate gave Tina an I told you so nudge. The Porter smile was back and Tina couldn’t be happier.

“It’s nice meeting you Bette… I’m going to get back to work… Oh and if you hear a baby crying that would be my son Dylan.” Kate said.

“It was nice to meet you Kate.” Bette looked back at Tina a little embarrassed by the thoughts that had gone through her mind.

“I guess we should talk about somethings” Tina said.

“I’m sorry T..”

“No no don’t be sorry Bette. I don’t even want to think about where my mind would have gone…” Tina paused for a moment, and lifted Bette’s chin slightly so she could look into her eyes. “Bette it is just me and the girls, there is no one else, I am completely free to explore where ever this may take us… with one exception and that’s my girls. I know you understand when it comes to them, and it is not something I am worried about with you.”

Bette took Tina’s hand “T I would never ask you to to choose, because in order for you to be the person I need in my life I would be on the loosing end of that choice.” Bette wiped a tear from Tina’s cheek and continued. “T there is no one else in my life either other than Colin, I am free to fully explore where ever this takes us… T it’s only fair to tell you that the breakup I went through with Colin’s mother left me with some emotional scars so much so that there has not been anyone since her, and she left 5 years ago.” Bette had to stop as the tears were freely flowing.

Tina thought to herself ‘Follow your heart’ as she wrapped her arms around Bette and held her close. “Shhh.. it’s Ok… I’ve got you…” Tina waited until Bette’s tears started to subside and looked into her deep brown eyes “Bette it’s Ok… it has been a long time for me to… I don’t want to mess it up… there is no reason to rush things.” Tina paused for a moment not sure if now was the right time for this conversation, but she wanted to know… she needed to know. “Bette if you are ready to talk to me about it I would like to know what happened.”

A look of terror shot across Bette’s face until her eyes met the hazel eyes full of worry, and love looking into her soul. Immediately Bette felt her walls start to crumble. She wanted Tina to be the one who made her heart whole again….
