“What the hell you ho, how do you do it?” I don’t even know how many times people have asked me that question. I just close my eyes, and all I see are those lips, those eyes. I’m too tired to answer her so I just flip her off, hearing her laugh even more. “Nice McCutcheon, really nice. Thanks for that.”

She dives like a fucking maniac; it’s like being in the car with Alice again. I could feel every bump in the road, every pebble and all I care about was seeing her, welcoming any sleep that didn’t involve her.

    “Syd, is the place ready?”

“Uh our stuff is there; oh shit forgot to show you.” She turned to look though her bag, swerving a little on the road.

“Watch the fucking road,” I open my eyes and grab onto the dashboard as we come so fucking close to the car next ours. The old lady driving looked pissed off, she started yelling but I couldn’t hear a word she said. I couldn’t breathe when I saw her flip us off, speeding down the street.

“Jeez, man what a nice old grandma.”

That made me laugh harder, it felt good to laugh I hadn’t done this just laugh for a long time. I picked up the paper she was looking for, and froze when I saw it. There I was walking out of a party that a club in NY threw for me last year, the fucking headline read ’ the Wax playa is back’. I felt like fucking throwing up, I mean I should’ve gotten use to it, ever since I did the whole under wear thing.

“Shit,” the only thing I could think to say.

“well man you are the rock star of hair dressing, you are one of the most popular lesbians in all of the U.S. what did you expect?” she had a point I had trouble with people knowing who I was, the best part though is that they don’t remember what I looked like. I mean I did the ad almost two years ago and the only reason I did it was because I was too fucking high to say no.

“What ever just get me to a fucking bed, did Jimmy drop by?” I really needed some thing to get her out of my head, soon enough the drugs weren’t going to be enough. The last one weren’t and the ones before that, nothing ever let me forget her.

    1. Wow, that was intense! I loved it. The story is written in such a way that you feel exactly what Shane and Carmen are feeling. It’s great, heartbreaking because Shane and Carmen are not truly happy being apart, but great nonetheless.
