    “Let me get this straight … you knew full well a week ago yet that we were driving out to the Hamptons really early this morning, yet you stumbled in at 2 in the morning…” Jules opened her mouth again, and then shut it as Diane glared at her, holding up one finger. “Then you

    “Let me get this straight … you knew full well a week ago yet that we were driving out to the Hamptons really early this morning, yet you stumbled in at 2 in the morning…”

    Jules opened her mouth again, and then shut it as Diane glared at her, holding up one finger.

    “Then you get Bette, who is just now able to sleep through the night… our friend who is recovering from severe and traumatic injuries … our friend who is not well enough to resume her normal schedule … but who would walk over broken glass for us, nevertheless.  You get her to close your bar for you at 5 in the morning…”

    Jules’ face grew desperate.  She protested, “But …” Diane silenced her with a narrowed eyes, and held up two fingers.

    “And then you bellow at me from the top floor, not once but twice, when you know I Hate That… how many times have I asked you not to shout out to me?!  Use. The. Intercom.  Please.”

    Diane held up three fingers.

    Jules stole a glance at the wall clock over Diane’s shoulder, and thought quickly.  They had about five minutes before they’d have to leave.  Precious little time for an argument to wrap up in her favor.

    She reached out and grasped her girlfriend’s shoulders quickly before the blonde could react, and trained her eyes on those beautiful blue eyes … that weren’t so welcoming at this moment, unfortunately.

    “Honey, I’m really sorry I shouted down to you this morning.  I was frantic, but, you’re right.  I knew it annoyed you, and I shouldn’t have shouted.”

    Diane’s eyes probed hers for any sign of insincerity, and then her lips began to curve into a smile slightly.  Her shoulders loosened under Jules’ desperate grip.

    “As for Bette, she assured me that all she needed to do was wake about 40-45 minutes earlier than she would have for her morning jog, so that she could get to the bar in time ….”

    Diane’s posture stiffened again, and her smile began to disappear.

    “And about getting here at 2….I’m sorry.  I didn’t plan ahead, you’re right.”

    Diane frowned again, then looked at her wristwatch, and shook her head disappointedly.  She grabbed the keys from Jules, and turned away from her, sighing as she headed towards the kitchen.  She said over her shoulder, “Let’s just go, baby.  We can talk in the car.  I’m driving.  Exhausted from a god-awful week, but you’re in no condition to drive. Bette, Tina, and Angie will be waiting.”

    4. I may be wrong, but it feels like you may be setting up the story for some drama with Dianne and Jules…. (at the bar with the guys and the party).
      And the way you ended here … yes it implies “sexy time” ……… BUT…….

      • Yes, you will see chapters soon. Just an insane travel schedule right now (or for much of the year so far, actually), from Acapulco to Beijing, Berlin to Colombo — crazy. There was a slight pause for Memorial Day, but otherwise…. Have not meant to keep readers hanging, and am going to post ASAP. I really like how the outline of this book is working out, so please let me know what you all think as the rest of the book unfolds. Thanks!

          I love to read a good book as long as it is entertaining. I see you are introducing two more new characters Diane and Jules into this new series I hope Bette and Tina aren’t fading into the background… Maybe Logan steps in uses Diane to uncover the mysterious guy who tried to hurt Bette and Tina? Finally my thought is persuading Tom to making a contribution by adding a fourth member to their family :)
