”Do you see something else, Doctor” Cassie also leans into the screen.

”Not yet, but always good to check again.”

Cassie changes the image filter settings to eliminate her notations.  Noses to the screen we go over every inch of the films one more time.  Even dead tired on your feet, I believe this last step is vital for a surgeon.

Finally, I’m satisfied.  ”We’ve gotten them all and I don’t see anything we missed.  Good job everybody!”

The OR fills with a welcome, ”whoop! whooping!” of congratulations.  Turning back to the patient I add as a note to Cassie, ”She may need speech therapy, there’s really no way to tell until she wakes up.”

”Should I schedule Dr. Saruk?”  Cassie asks.

    ”He’s here on Friday?”

Cassie leans over to her iPhone stashed outside the clean zone.  ”Siri can you help me?”

Siri answers, ”What can I help you with today, Cassie?”

”Check Dr. Saruk’s schedule for January nineteen two thousand and seventeen.”

”Getting that for you now,” Siri replies.  ”Dr. Saruk’s schedule for January nineteen two thousand and seventeen is: eight am drop Radha at school; 9 am racquetball with Stan; 11 am …”

”Good Lord!” I cry out, ”If it says, ”massage and sauna at eleven” I’m changing specialties!”

”…three pm hospital rounds, four pm…”

    Cassie says, ”Stop Siri.”

The OR clock reads a little after two.  ”Even if I didn’t need him, I’d still want his ass in here!”

”I’ll take care of it right away, Doctor.”

I shake my head at my temper.  ”I’m sorry at my outburst, everyone.”  I focus back on my patient closing her open incisions with expert stitching.

Walking into my office my cell phone rings on my desk.  Maria.  A smile spreads across my face when I answer.

    ”Well, hello!”

    ”Hello back.  How’ve you been?”

”Oh, the usual, brain surgery, you know.”

”Ah!  So, nothing life or death, I take it.”

I drop a stack of medical files on my desk.  ”Just another day, are you still in Chicago?”

”Yes, I’m at O’hare as we speak.”

”Who’s show are you on tonight?  I’ll be sure to watch.”

”Lawrence’s people booked me then, called an hour ago saying one of their other guests had to cancel so, they asked me to fill two blocks.  I think I know who it is…Bette, reporters close to this are having a hard time.”

    1. Hi, Command:

Very nice chapter, very hot too; I remember those days two months and a half ago, very stressed, if people had known five months ago what we know now (and what probably some of us always knew), probably history would have changed; so, let’s see how Dr. Bette Porter will show the truth behind the mental condition of this guy. Looking forward to the ‘Women’s March’ in your next chapter (I hope), and to see what you have prepared for us.

Thanks so much for posting soon

      Proteonomics

      • Dear Proteonomics,

As the real time news story of Christopher Steele’s dossier unfolds my awe and frustration is that first Jeb Bush’s campaign had the intel, and later they passed it onto Hillary Clinton, and, of course, we know the Obama White House got a copy, too. This happened in July! Meaning right after the conventions the FBI had the Steele report, as well!

In Countdown we’re likely not going to be chasing the Russian connections because Doctor Porter’s role is firmly in neuroscience. However, because they are so damaging and damning and of interest to me, I plan to weave them in, as the shocking revelations they are. As you noted, Dr Porter has another role to play by way of Trump’s mental disease. I hope you’ll stay tuned as she figures this mystery out.

My great thanks for your comment and continued interest.

    2. Bette is not the only who is smitten ????, but i must admit that i prefer Tina more.

Any change that she will appear in this incredible story?

Great and hot chapter and i look forward to the next update!

      • Bibi, It seems both are nervously smitten, doesn’t it? In the beginning of this thriller, Maria is needed to show the investigative journalistic side of the unfolding mysteries that develop around the presidency. She is vital as this develops. I hope you’ll enjoy her even while enjoying Tina more!

Bette will meet Tina at the Women’s March, but only as an introduction and in passing. Until the story shifts, due to a series of plots developments, Bette will be off on forays with Maria figuring out how to get the story of Trump’s insanity into the forefront of news reporting. Then Tina’s role can be developed, but we’re not there, yet.

Tina is with an NGO that will fight Trump’s “anti-human life on earth” policies, to state them broadly! I’ve not decided which NGO yet, but I’m leaning toward an environmental/climate change NGO, because exploring that subject will take Bette out of Washington and into many places in America with Tina.

Please enjoy Maria, if possible. I am. Bette is and Nightingale will like her on their upcoming riding adventure.

My thanks always for reading and commenting!

      • HA! Very! I loved setting it up: “Under the glow of another century, she’s draped across a chaise longue, almost nude except for heels, almost close enough to touch, but not quite.”

You see why I need Maria to knock the cobwebs off Dr Porter! The photographs of Maria are exquisite.

    3. Enjoyed the update. Glad that Bette will be able to let the CIA and FBI as well as the American people and the world know that the man is definitely unhinged. How people can still support him is beyond me. It is obvious that he is not ready or capable of doing this job. When his daughter was given an office in the West Wing, no pay and high security clearance that only means one thing to me and i.e., that she has the job of disemanating info in the security briefings that he does not understand. It has already been reported that he does not read anything. And his staff has told the various agencies to make their ibriefings ONLY ONE PAGE, with bullet points. Well DAMN, how does he expect to run the country with briefings of one page and not anything in depth. I shall leave this alone before I get us all in trouble. We are the laughing stock of the world and this country is in so much trouble. Thanks for posting.

      • Agreed! Whenever Ivanka enters a scene in this story I expect there be a witching-chill crusting the air.

In total, there are so many distressing things, it’s like deep pinball, if there is such a thing. One ever level your ball collides with obstacles too fantastic or grim to contemplate and then down a spiral hole you go to a deeper level that hits you emotionally. I’m writing this as a piece of storytelling to share with you all and to vent my own imagined meandering in down the rabbit hole.

So, let’s hope Dr Porter figures out a cool gizmo that will secretly take a scan of Trump’s brain while he’s unaware.

That one of the plans to see inside Trumpworld.

Good to see this late afternoon for me. Happy you liked the update.
