Bike Ride, Life Ride Chapter 42
They
were rushed from the hotel to the hospital emergency room. Tina was very
familiar with the routine by now. She took care of the sign in process and
Bette was brought back into the medical part of the ER. Tina sat down in the waiting area for what
seemed like an eternity. She was
deliriously tired and was nodding off sitting up when she felt someone gently
shaking her.
Dr.
Miller said “Tina?”
Tina
jumped and rubbed her eyes and ran her hands through her hair to try to wake
herself up. She saw Dr. Miller sitting
beside her.
Tina
said “Is Bette ok? I have been waiting to hear something and they wouldn’t let
me go back with her.”
Dr.
Miller said “Bette cannot catch a break, that is for sure. She is a frequent
flyer here at my hospital. Tina, I am going to just tell you straight up that
Bette was hemorraghing and she lost a lot of blood. She is weak right now. She
needs a blood transfusion treatment and I need for you to sign some paperwork
regarding that. She is going to be ok, but this was caused by the pregnancy.”
Tina
nodded. She frowned and then said “So then, she miscarried is what you are
saying?”
Dr.
Miller said “yes I am afraid so. But she also lost a lot of blood. We did an
emergency procedure to make sure that there was no…”
Tina
interrupted and said “just ok, I got it. I understand. Can I see her? And where
are the papers you need me to sign?”
Dr.
Miller said “Come on back and I will have the nurse bring the medical consent
papers into you. Bette may not be awake and she is very weak and groggy. She also had considerable pain medication. It
was morphine, so she might not make sense, just so you know…”
Tina
nodded and Dr. Miller led the way. Tina settled at Bette’s little curtained corner
of the world once again and sat down. Bette looked to be sleeping peacefully.
She looked awful. The nurse brought in the medical forms and Tina quickly
signed them to get that part out of the way. The nurse explained that they
would order the transfusion and go ahead and move Bette to her own private
room. They moved from the ER to the
general part of the hospital, once again. Tina instructed the nurse to just
throw away Bette’s clothes which were covered in blood. Tina settled into the
new room. Bette slept through the entire thing. She was totally drugged up.

That is so sad that Bette lost the baby. It’s a tough situation for Tina too. I think if I were in her shoes, I’d also question if it’s wrong to be relieved that she lost it. Great update. Thanks :)
Thanks for the update. Glad you came back to us. You made a wise decision for this chapter since you were having problems with how to deal with it. Mother nature took the choice out of their hands which sometimes happens with a first pregnancy for whatever reason. Neither of them needs to feel guilty for having doubts about the pregnancy and they both need to understand that these things happen. Now both of them especially Bette needs to heal mind, body and spirit so that they can get back to their home and family where they belong. It will take Bette a little longer to heal from this but she will get through it with Tina’s help. They have their love to see them through. Thanks for posting.
Sorry it happened this way but I didn’t want to have the baby so this is more what I want to have happen. Hopefully this’ll be Bette’s last stay in the hospital for a while. Glad you’re posting again!
I am so glad you came back. I think it is probably the best thing that could have happened, but it is always traumatic to lose a baby. Poor Bette.
Please give them a break, they suffered enough.Thank you for the update, glad you are back.
so glad that you are back. Bette losing the baby is so sad. Poor Bette, and Tina they need something good to happen!
I have missed this story. I’m sad for Bette and feel sorry for Tina
Thank you for posting. I have missed this story. So sad for bette that she lost the baby. Poor Tina they really can’t catch a break. Thank you for this story.
I guess that was the choice you had to make. Now let’s just get Bette better, let her and Tina heal and then get them back home to their precious little Angie and friends, so they can get on with their lives, and maybe that can be the way you wrap up the story.
i wonder how Bette will react
