Bike Ride, Life Ride Chapter 42

    Bette
and Tina stayed in bed together and rested. And after a while, Bette didn’t
feel bad in her stomach any longer. The funny thing about the morning sickness
is that it goes away as quickly as it comes on! The girls spend the day
watching movies at the hotel and relaxing. They ordered room service for dinner
and after a relatively uneventful day, they settled in for the night. Both
girls were keeping things light and not talking about the pregnancy and it was
sort of like an elephant in the room. Bette had anxiety about it, but was
trying to respect Tina’s need for space.
Bette understood the need, but was bursting with insecurities.

    Tina
turned down the bed and helped Bette over to go to sleep.

    The
nigh time slumber brought much needed relief and cut the tension between the
two. In bed with one another brought on vulnerability.  Bette snuggled up to Tina and she
    instinctively reciprocated.  They said
their goodnights and fell asleep. Another day of recovery behind them.

    Bette
awoke with a terrible stabbing pain in her stomach, she clutched her stomach
and screamed out loud.  The sounds woke
Tina who thought Bette was having a nightmare. When Tina came out of the fog of
sleepiness, she realized that something was wrong and Bette was in pain. She
immediately began trying to soothe her partner while she reached for the
    light.

    Tina
said “Baby, I am right here, what is wrong? Tell me what hurts? I am trying to
help you. Bette? What is wrong?”

    Bette
just clutched her stomach and screamed and moaned. She was not able to
    articulate her pain.

    Tina
tried to lay her back down and upon moving her realized there was a ton of
blood under Bette. Tina felt her heart in her chest, but she didn’t panic, she calmly
said “Baby, hang in there, ok? Something is really wrong. There is a lot of
blood Bette. Just stay with me Bette. Keep talking to me, keeping squeezing my
hand. I am going to get help”.

    Tina
reached for the hotel phone, dialed the front desk and said she needed an
ambulance to get Bette over to the hospital. She also asked the hotel to call
the hospital and page for Dr. Miller and tell him Bette was coming back through
the emergency room. No sooner did she hang up with the front desk the paramedic
crew was coming through the hotel room. Tina yelled for them that they were in
the back bedroom. They came in and took over and the next thing Tina knew they
had Bette on a stretcher with an IV hooked up and they were asking Tina if she
was accompanying Bette to the emergency room. Tina nodded yes.

    1. That is so sad that Bette lost the baby. It’s a tough situation for Tina too. I think if I were in her shoes, I’d also question if it’s wrong to be relieved that she lost it. Great update. Thanks :)

    2. Thanks for the update. Glad you came back to us. You made a wise decision for this chapter since you were having problems with how to deal with it. Mother nature took the choice out of their hands which sometimes happens with a first pregnancy for whatever reason. Neither of them needs to feel guilty for having doubts about the pregnancy and they both need to understand that these things happen. Now both of them especially Bette needs to heal mind, body and spirit so that they can get back to their home and family where they belong. It will take Bette a little longer to heal from this but she will get through it with Tina’s help. They have their love to see them through. Thanks for posting.

    3. Sorry it happened this way but I didn’t want to have the baby so this is more what I want to have happen. Hopefully this’ll be Bette’s last stay in the hospital for a while. Glad you’re posting again!

    4. Thank you for posting. I have missed this story. So sad for bette that she lost the baby. Poor Tina they really can’t catch a break. Thank you for this story.

    5. I guess that was the choice you had to make. Now let’s just get Bette better, let her and Tina heal and then get them back home to their precious little Angie and friends, so they can get on with their lives, and maybe that can be the way you wrap up the story.
