Tina: “I like you, too, Helena.”

Helena: “No, I meant, I wish I had the chance to date you.” Tina’s face shows no expression, but she is shocked beyond words. Helena can’t read any signals from Tina so she does what comes naturally to her. She soflty kisses Tina’s lips. She doesn’t feel Tina pulling away so she continues kissing her lightly, then slowly opens her lips her,tongue beg’s entry into Tina’s mouth. Tina’s judgement is clouded by her sympathy for Helena. After hearing Helena’s heart wrenching story she feels responsible for comforting Helena. For a moment Tina leans into the kiss and slowly begins to open her mouth when she realizes what is happening. Pulling back quickly and wiping her mouth, she angrily spouts, “What the ***** do you think you’re doing?”

Helena knowing she’s made the wrong move replies, “I’m sorry, I should have asked first, it was hasty of me to assume you wanted to kiss me.”

Tina: “Look I’m happily married to Bette, I like you, but not like that. I feel sorry for you for what happened with your first girlfriend, but don’t confuse my thoughtfulness with me wanting to date you….wait a minute, were you ***** lying to me? I’ll bet that whole story was a bunch of *****….you wanted me to feel sorry for you so you could make a move on me…Bette was right about you.” Tina stands to leave.

Helean:(pleading) “No, it was the truth. I didn’t lie to you. I wasn’t trying to make you feel sorry for me…..i just told you what happened. I really do like you, but I understand you’re with Bette. Please don’t think badly of me. You have to believe me….I swear my intentions were honest.”

Tina starts calming down. “okay okay…I believe you, but that still doesn’t mean I want to date you. And you should be more respectful of people’s relationships. Listen, the guests are starting to leave….I need to go and find Bette. Have a nice evening.”

She leaves Helena sitting at the bar. She finds Bette who is very upset, “Where did you go with her?”

Tina: “To the bar.”

Bette: “I don’t like you hanging out with her. She’s trouble.”

Tina:(defensively) “I wasn’t hanging out with her. I was trying to be nice….she’s your boss. I didn’t want to be rude. And she’s not as bad as you make her out to be….you just don’t know what she’s been through.”
