Kit:  “ohh boy.  This is something.  So now what?  Are you going back to Tina?”

Bette:  “No”

Kit:  “Are you going to tell Harmony how you feel?”

Bette:  “Why?   I told you, she slept with Roxanne.  She made her choice.”

Kit:  “Ok but did you say you made up your mind about her?”

Nod.

Kit:  “So you love her?”

Nod.

Kit:  “So isn’t that worth fighting for?”

Bette was silent.

Kit:  “If you love Harmony you gotta give her a chance to make an informed decision.  This is something I feel no one understands.  You have to go out on a limb for love.”

Bette just sat and listened.  Kit had a very good point.

Bette:  “Well I’m all limbed out for one night.  You mind if I stay here tonight?”

Kit:  “Of course.  I’ll get some blankets.”

After Bette was settled she couldn’t sleep.  She lay on her back and thought.  She did indeed love Harmony but Harmony made her choice.  Why would Bette fight for something that was so obviously over?  Bette thought back and forth.  Weighed the pros and cons.  When she fell asleep she still didn’t have a solution.

Monday morning

Bette had her meeting with UCLA today.  She was nervous and excited all at the same time.  She wanted to make a good impression but she was having a hard time focusing with all the stuff on her mind.   As Bette looked in her closet she saw the suit Harmony got for her.   She took it out.  It really was a nice suit.  She was reluctant but she decided to wear it anyway.  She continued dressing and went to her interview.  She felt incomplete.  Harmony was supposed to be with her for this.  To alleviate the butterflies, give her confidence.  With out her she felt vulnerable.

Harmony’s office that morning

Harmony was having a hard time getting into the swing of things.  She thought of nothing but Bette.  Whenever she closed her eyes she felt the sting of Bette kissing Tina.  She felt like crying again.  She was all cried out for a little while though.  Roxanne came into her office and found her swinging back and forth in her chair staring at her lap.  Roxanne stayed with Harmony the rest of the weekend and consoled her as she went on and on about Bette.  Roxanne felt a sharp slap in the face every time Harmony mentioned Bette.  She felt a swift kick to the gut every time she cried.  They both felt a simultaneous agony of pain due to the person they love loving someone else.
