Bed of Lies – Chapter 7
"I’d love the company… Al?" Bette looked at her oldest friend, willing her to be busy, wanting to spend some time with Tina.
"Damn Porter, you know I wanted to look at those prints. But I gotta run. Dinner tonight?"
“Yeah ok, will you tell Dana and Shane?"
"Sure, I’ll call ‘em on my way. See you later; call me if you need to talk ok?" Alice pulled Bette into a hug. She was crazy, hyperactive and wild, but she could be the sweetest, gentlest person when her friends were down or hurt.
“Thanks Al, and thanks for last night… I’m really sorry I snapped this morning… I -"
"It’s all good Bette. See you tonight alright?" Alice smiled and walked out to her car. Bette turned to face Tina.
"You can make it to dinner right?"
“Sure, I’ll let Eric know I won’t be home." Tina pulled out her phone and began typing.
Eric. Damn. Bette had almost forgotten. She lost herself in thought, brought back by Tina’s voice.
"I didn’t know you had a darkroom here."
"Yeah, I got one of the spare rooms fitted out a few years ago, I used to hire out other places, but this way I save money and I can develop at 4 in the morning if I feel like it, I still get everything printed professionally but I really like experimenting with them myself before I get them enlarged so…" Bette trailed, off, realising she was rambling.
"You work with film then?"
“Mostly, I’m still old school, I did give into the digital urge just before I left, got myself a D-SLR to play with… quite liked it too – most of the Florence show was actually from digital prints. But editing on a computer doesn’t feel the same as being in a darkroom, and I miss the smell of developer on my hands!” Bette shook her head, she was still rambling; Tina laughed at the admission.
“So, can I see it?”
“Huh? Oh, yeah, this way.” Bette grabbed 4 rolls of film that were sitting on the kitchen bench and walked through the lounge, down the hall to the first door. Tina noticed the large, orange light by the door, a warning for when the darkroom was in use. Bette opened the heavy door and waved Tina through before closing it behind them. A heavy black curtain separated them from the rest of the room; Bette drew it aside and flicked a switch, bathing the room in light. Tina looked around a noticed 3 enlargers on the bench running along one side of the room, the table on the other side was empty, but the stack of empty trays indicated this was where development occurred. There was a drying rack and an electric dryer. Under both tables were cabinets that ran the length of the room, all clearly labelled with names of chemicals and equipment they held.

Tina needs to decide what she wants. I am hoping that Eric is about to get the goodbye talk.
I’m sorry too… that the chapter ended there. Tina’s got a choice to make, and soon. This is so good, tbp, so good. Thanks
sigh…i feel all warm and tingly inside…is that normal right before going to work? i love this story!
Hummmm, I wonder if Tina is finally expressing her sorrow over Melvin’s death to Bette, or is she saying sorry because she can’t kiss her right now????Good chapter. Good cliff hanger. pps

so good, so well written, so much want . Please set Tina free and post soon so I can breathe again. Thank you
Lordy, Lordy, sweet Lord. What a sight! “She knew Bette had a motorbike, had seen it parked in her driveway, had seen her carry her helmet… but she had never seen her on it. She was wearing her usual: tight jeans, boots, tight black tank top, worn leather jacket. And she was straddling a bike. ” I can just picture JB in this scene. What a way to make an entrance. It would be just perfect. Although, the darkroom scene wasn’t too shabby either. ;-) Tina’s got to be prepared to play w/the big girls now. PPS.
I don’t think Tina is sorry in regards to Eric or Melvin, I think she’s sorry that at this moment as much as she’d like to, the kiss is not going to happen. Though if that was me, after all that in the dark room with Bette, I don’t know that I could stop. Damn that was good. Looking forward to the next update.
Well, well, isn’t it a new kind of forplay here, pressing “bodies, arms and fingers” together in the pretty intimate and cut-off-from-the-outside-world dark room ! I simply love it (… and totally share Tina’s emotions and breath’s trouble ! *sighs*) The same way I adore the way that my beloved two develop both a film and a relationship, right ? (*wink & grin*) Sensitive and sweet, realistic, full of sparks and growing emotional – and physical – tension : that’s what I call an endearing story – a fovorite of mine from the very beginning. Thank you so much for sharing, TP, it’s a true pleasure to be your reader – your faithful and delighted reader. More, please ! (*puppy eyes added to my best smile !* ) ^_^ – A.
I am really enjoying your story, it does seem a bit more based in reality than the show. I especially like how you are building and showing the connection between Bette and Tina whilst everyone else is oblivious. However, I believe you having taken the course..How To Get lurkers Out of The Shadows By Adding Mean and Spiteful Cliffies….and you must have gotten an A, ’cause it worked on me. Please up date soon.
sorry for what Tina???? Very intense…can u post soon plz.
I think Tina’s sorry because she won’t be able to go farther than their first kiss – at least not until she clears things up with Eric. How could Tina resist kissing Bette? Those beautiful lips, the warmth of her breath, the darkness of the room…Ohhhhh – no one could resist all of that and be human! This is sooo darn good TBP. You’re killing me with these cliffhangers though… couldn’t they have kissed at least one time before Tina became remorseful??? More – Soon — PLEASE.
