Art of Love – Chpt 12

Mummy laughed. “My dear, give me more credit than that…”

At that moment, Bette entered the kitchen. Alone. And interrupting.

“Yes, Helena, please, give your mother more credit than that.” She walked over to me and slid her arm around my waist. “I take it you’re trying to determine the reason for your mother’s unconventional greeting to the Senator.”

“Senator or not, she’s still barbaric,” Mummy interjected, leaning back comfortably against the counter and sipping her drink.

“And don’t forget, a barracuda, as well,” Bette said, smiling to Mummy.

I looked at Bette with astonishment. “Darling, will you please tell me what’s going on? I can’t get Mummy to give me a straight answer. And I’m sure ‘how’s tricks?’ was not some cryptic way of saying ‘I hope we have a simply magical evening together.’”

Mummy cackled. “Oh, my dear, good one.”

“Bette, did you inconsiderately leave the Senator alone while we congregate in the kitchen?” I inquired with concern.

“No. Um, well, yes, Sweetheart. But her cell phone rang just as you two left the room and it was apparently important. So I left her to privately take the call,” Bette replied. “It sounded as if it may take a while.”

“Probably firming up plans to execute some nefarious plot,” Mummy speculated, amused.

    Bette laughed.

Thoroughly confused and frustrated, I stomped my foot.

“Would someone please tell me what is going on!” I demanded.

“Bette, my dear, do you mind apprising Helena of the information I related to you earlier? I simply don’t have the capacity to recount that story twice in one evening. Especially on an empty stomach.” Mummy sighed and turned towards the exit. “If you two don’t mind, I think I’ll take my drink and stroll outside on the deck for a bit of fresh air.”

I looked at Bette questioningly. And as Mummy walked past me, I took her hand and caressed the back of it. “Mummy, are you alright?”

Mummy smiled. “Yes, Darling. I’m fine. Just a little hungry. Talk to Bette. I’ll be right outside.”

I kissed my mother on the cheek. “I’ll finish dinner preparations right away, Mummy.”

As Mummy left the room, I turned to Bette, took a deep breath and exhaled.

    1. You’ve really managed to flesh out the character of the Senator with the words of the other players…well done zheese! Let’s see where the story takes us…

    2. I’m sure ‘how’s tricks?’ was not some cryptic way of saying ‘I hope we have a simply magical evening together.'” *applauding* Just utterly delightful! PPS

    3. When did Helena insert the stick up her ass? How prim and proper she’s become. She may be too young to know that in it’s earlier incarnation “how’s tricks?” was slangy but not out right vulgar, acceptable for a teenager of the day to say in front of a parent. Really, though, Peggy and Bette should get that stick out of Helena’s ass so they can all have a good time shoving it up Barbara’s. They can they use it as a spit to slowly turn her as they roast her.

    4. Right now I don’t know what’s funnier; this chapter or funnyone’s comment about Helena having a stick up her ass. This just keeps getting better and better. In the words of bettefortina…..Round 2 – Dinner!!

    5. Great just great, loved every word of it, also the ones were I needed my dictionary ;). Can’t wait to see how the evening will go on. “I don’t think that’s part of the menu you’re being served tonight, my dear,” Mummy addressed the Senator. “Bette and Helena partake only of each other.” hilarious, thanks.

    6. lol…this was so funny. Oh my goodness the Senator need to leave as quickly as possible cause I am sure it’s just beginning. I think she wants a 3 way with Bette & Helena. Peggy is so funny that comment about “I don’t think that’s part of the menu you’re being served tonight…lol Keep posting love it!

    7. *laughung*……..watch bette and helena enter the dining room and find peggy and the senator fighting….hahahahahaha, great chapter zheese, round two is gonna be funny as hell
